Find out more about National Nutrition Week from Foodbank WA.

From 13 to 19 October, we’re celebrating National Nutrition Week, a time to highlight the power of nutrition and the role it plays in our wellbeing. 🥕🌽🥦

At Foodbank WA, we believe everyone should have access to nutritious food. 🍽️ That’s why we deliver nutrition education through our nom! programs, helping Western Australians of all ages make healthy choices on budget.

Our team of nine nutritionists and dietitians work across the state, including regional and remote communities, empowering people with the skills to cook, plan and eat well.

We also support over 560 schools through our School Breakfast Program, giving more than 25,600 children a healthy start to their day every week. 💪🏼💪🏼

This week is a reminder that good nutrition isn’t just about food - it’s about dignity, connection and opportunity. 💜

Does your family need some No-Tech Time?

Make a plan with your child for when the whole family will set aside No-Tech Time. Make a list of things you can do together. Invite your child to make a list of things they can do alone, too. Decide where devices will be kept during this time, for kids and adults!

When you create family No-Tech Time, your child will learn from your example. You can make a plan for what to do when devices are turned off. Having a plan helps your child learn to face challenges. And you will probably have a lot of fun as a family, too!

Family Meals Matter!

Make time to eat together with your child whenever you can. Sitting down for meals isn’t just about food, it’s about connection.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 When families eat together:
✅ Bonds grow stronger
✅ Kids learn routines
✅ Healthy habits are built naturally

Every bite is a chance to connect. Start small, one meal at a time. 🥗✨

⚡ At cleanup time, invite your child to be a Super Hero Helper! Ask them to pick a cleaning superpower: Are they super fast when picking up toys or super strong when carrying the washing or groceries? Encourage them to show their superpowers in action and comment on their hard work! Then create your own Super Hero Helper!

Your child must focus and use self-control to be a Super Hero Helper, as they work to tune out distractions and stay on task, instead of doing something else. Giving them choices helps them feel a sense of control and encourages their independence.
