“This week has reminded me that growth and connection live where
honesty, accountability, and compassion are honoured.
Friendship isn’t about being flawless
— it’s about owning the impact we have on each other,
and walking together with courage, gratitude, and care.”

“True friendship is honesty, respect, and accountability wrapped in kindness.
It doesn’t demand perfection, but it does require presence.
A little reminder from someone who taught me what friendship really means.”

Hard conversations are uncomfortable, yes
— but silence leaves relationships hollow.”

“When we offer advice without being asked, we trade connection for control.
Real support doesn’t assume — it asks.
True care begins with listening and curiosity.”

“Friendship, like justice, isn’t one-sided.
Accountability makes connection real.
Without it, one person carries the weight while the other avoids it
— and that’s not friendship, that’s imbalance.”

“Judgment disguised as care still breaks trust.
We can tell ourselves we’re ‘helping,’
but if it doesn’t land as safe or respectful, it leaves scars.
Care must come without harm — even unintended harm.”

“Generosity without gratitude doesn’t feel like kindness — it feels like entitlement.
Real care needs to be wrapped in gratitude, or it loses its heart.”

“Autonomy is one of the cornerstones of care — and of friendship.
Respecting someone’s choices may not always be easy,
but it is the deepest form of love and honour we can give.”

“This past week has stretched me in ways I didn’t expect — both personally and professionally.
What helped me most was connecting with other mental health nurses, where reflection, accountability, and care weren’t just words, they were lived.
It reminded me that these values matter in all relationships,
not only the professional ones.”

I've been reading a lot about stress, and polyvagal theory and safety and threat the last few days and finally got the message that the main thing we need to do for resilience is breath
There are a lot of different styles of breathing out there to try, give them all a try and then keep doing it all day every day
Just remember if you want to calm you body down the inhale needs to be shorter and the exhale needs to be longer

I am wondering if any of y‘all have heard of Mavis Tsai and the Awareness Courage and Love global project
I met Mavis a few years ago when I was still in Melbourne, and decided I wanted to open a Chapter in Australia where people could connect with each other and have courageous conversations.

The meetings are structured around a chosen topic which is introduced with a short video, a meditation and some questions to reflect on how this topic impacts on you and how you feel about it.

You will then meet with another person or two in a private space to reflect and share how the chosen topic impacted on you, what thoughts came up and how that made you feel. These are not conversations we usually get to have in our life

As part of this small intimate group, you will have the opportunity to:
Share your experience with courage and vulnerability.
Just touch the edge of your comfort zone or just push past it to a point where you feel safe.
The other person/s in the group just listens to your experience with open ears, eyes, mind and heart. They will not interrupt you or ask any questions, this is about you focusing on your experience.
When you have finished sharing the other person will reflect back to you what is in their heart & mind in response to what you shared, without judgement, advice or trying to make you feel better.
You then get a chance to express how it felt to be heard and appreciation for your partner/group.
Then the next person in the group shares their experience.

Sounds scary doesn’t it! Hell yes, it is! Why would I want to put myself through this!

It is an amazing experience being able to express yourself fully knowing you will be heard totally, without judgement or feeling like you are broken because no-one is trying to fix you. Being held in a totally confidential, safe space that allows you to be authentic and vulnerable with people whom you may never meet up with again.

I would like to host a free monthly online Awareness Courage and Love meeting on the last Sunday of the month

30/04/2023
430pm (AWST)

"Reflecting on the Brevity of Life" is the topic for this meeting.
Many of us engage in attempts to organize life, control time, and get through our to-dos as fast and efficiently as possible. We hope that getting it all done will help us find peace, however, these efforts may have the effect of pushing what’s genuinely important to our hearts ever further over the horizon. In this meeting, we will engage in contemplation of the brevity of life. You’ll be invited to reflect on what you value most, delving more deeply into your internal guidance about how to make the limited time you have on this earth more mindful, bold and meaningful. Together, we will witness what arises when we attempt to face our finitude honestly.

Please let me know in the comments below if you are in Perth and would be interested in a face to face meeting every 2nd month (unfortunately I would have to charge a small fee to cover the cost of hiring a room)

If you think you might be interested, please watch this video which might help you decide if this group is for you!
Please send me your email via pm and I will send you the invitation and information about the group
