✨ My Bowen Story – Why I Do What I Do ✨
Hi, I’m Brooke, a Bowen Therapy practitioner, a mum, a wife, and part of a beautifully busy blended family 🤍
My connection to Bowen Therapy began when I was just 15 years old, during my very first Bowen session. That experience stayed with me — not only because of how gentle and effective it felt, but because of the practitioner herself. Over the years, I kept crossing paths with the same Bowen therapist, Jean, who always encouraged me to study Bowen Therapy, saying she felt it truly aligned with who I was 🌿
Life took me down other paths first. I became a qualified hairdresser, and by the age of 24 I was studying Beauty Therapy. It was there that I realised the part I loved most was the massage component — the hands-on connection and helping people feel more comfortable in their bodies ✨
At 27, my life changed when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. During treatment, I began exploring supportive and alternative therapies to help manage the physical and emotional impact. This experience gave me a much deeper respect for gentle, nervous-system–supportive care, especially when the body is already under strain 🤍
By 28, I completed my Certificate IV in Massage Therapy, followed by the Diploma. While I loved helping people through touch, I still felt something was missing — that there was a gentler, more holistic way to support the body 🌸
At 29, I met my husband, and not long after, he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Massage, which I knew so well, was often uncomfortable for him and didn’t provide the relief his body needed. Watching this challenged everything I thought I knew about bodywork ✨
Once again, life brought me back to Jean, my original Bowen therapist, who gently encouraged me — yet again — to try Bowen Therapy. This time, everything clicked. Bowen worked with the body and nervous system, offering support without force 🌿
Bowen Therapy became deeply personal for me through my family as well. My daughter had been seeing a specialist for migraines, experiencing them frequently. After a few Bowen sessions, we noticed a significant change, and now it’s very rare for her to experience one 🤍
I also witnessed Bowen Therapy’s gentleness firsthand with my nephew as a baby. At the time, there were concerns he may need surgery on his neck due to shortening of the sternocleidomastoid muscle on one side. After one Bowen session, we watched in awe as his neck began to visibly straighten before our eyes — a moment I will never forget 🌸
Later, supporting my husband through thyroid cancer, alongside my own cancer journey, further reinforced my belief in therapies that are respectful, gentle, and supportive during times of illness, stress, and overwhelm ✨
As a mum in a blended family, I understand how important it is to feel well enough to show up for the people you love. Bowen Therapy offers a pause… a breath… and a chance for the body to reset in a safe, nurturing way 🤍
My approach is gentle, holistic, and deeply respectful of each individual journey. Every session is tailored, because no two bodies — and no two life stories — are the same 🌿
I feel incredibly grateful to do work that aligns so closely with my heart, my lived experience, and my family. Thank you for being here 🤍
