Hi Guys, I was listening to a you tube clip by Dawson Church and I came across him sharing this gem of information on why tapping works as it does, so I took it and wrote it out for you all.
I personally have found this the best explanation I have read. I hope that you do too.
I hope your having a fabulous Wednesday.

Explaining EFT and why it works
There is a law called Hebbs law which states that
'Neurons that fire together, wire together!'
Neurons carry the pulse of a thought.
Think about a problem or a story that bothers you again & again & again.
Each time you send that pulse (thought) down the neural bundle it connects with other neurons and that neural bundle becomes thicker.
So we're filling our bodies with sources to build those neural bundles thicker & thicker & thicker.
We literally rewire our brains as we think positive thoughts or negative thoughts.
After thinking the same repetitive thought for years & years & years, you've built this huge neural bundle to do with that traumatic memory or that issue that you had laid down at an early age.
If you then do EFT, what happens is very interesting, because suddenly your body is activating that neural bundle, that big, thick neural bundle you've spent all these years devotedly building, by recalling that trauma.
So you think that thought in your mind, feel it in your body, light up those neurons and then something strange happens.
The body gets a DIFFERENT signal and the body says 'huh'?
Every other time we've had this traumatic thought we know that was a really horrible experience so we go into 'fight or flight', the stress response to try & protect ourselves from that happening again, but now, even though we're having that same stressful thought, there's another signal telling us we're SAFE.
Because we wouldn't really be sitting here gently tapping like this, would we, if there was a harmful predator or a nasty person in the room.?
So your body then gets this conflicting, cognitive signal of the tapping and you pair that with the self acceptance statement
"I deeply and completely love and accept/forgive myself"!
THINK OF THE TRAUMA, DO THE TAPPING AND SUDDENLY THAT NEURAL BUNDLE IS DE-ACTIVATED.
You no longer need to carry that 'fight or flight' impulse from your body to your brain, every time you think of the trauma.
So with EFT, we find people remembering traumas they may have had rehearsed, in their minds, for years and years, even decades and suddenly, just one round of tapping and their level of intensity goes way down because that conditioned reflex loop - that neural pathway, is interuppted.
And once you break the pattern one time, even just one time and tell the body it's SAFE, then you can think about the memory thereafter and the body no longer goes into that stress response.
