We just had to share this beautiful story 💜

In neonatal intensive care units, the smallest comforts can make the biggest difference.

For premature babies surrounded by tubes and wires, something soft to hold can bring calm, connection, and reassurance.

With time, care, and compassion, Bernice Joy Luxford has hand-crafted and donated over 700 octopus toys, each one offering comfort not only to tiny patients but to their caregivers as well.

Her generosity is a shining example of the kindness that lifts others when they need it most.

A simple act of love, repeated hundreds of times, reminds families they’re not alone.

💜 Thinking of Donating? Here’s How You Can Help!

At the WIRF & KEMH Op Shop, we’re so grateful for your donations. They help us support women, babies, and families across WA. To ensure we offer every item with dignity and respect, here are a few simple tips when donating:

✅ What we can accept:
👶 Clean, good-condition children’s clothing (sizes 000000 to 3 years)
👗 Women’s clothing, including maternity wear (sizes 6 to 24)

🚫 What we unfortunately cannot accept:
⚡ Electrical items
🚼 Car seats, strollers or large cots
🚫 Clothing with stains, holes or heavy pilling

Thank YOU Jess and the Safe Haven Essential packs Community for the genuine kindness and generosity helping 30 women in crisis.

The 30 packs donated will offer comfort to women admitted under difficult circumstances via the Social Work Department. Your kindness converts to offering comfort showing that someone genuinely cares.
