Unwanted against the Lions, James O'Connor pulled all the right strings as the Wallabies stunned South Africa.

He’s now played 65 matches but he says nothing tops beating the Springboks in Johannesburg.

Just completed my fifth two day BOSIET course.

Lots of changes as we are taught to use compressed air - a brilliant move.

Being a life long SCUBA diver, spear fishermen and snorkeller really helps.

No panic attacks with me..I’m just too old to scare easily.

Loved seeing the grimacing looks on the faces on the other delegates change to much more confident ones during and after this highly testing and intense life saving course.

The great instructors, carefully and gently guided all of us to accept being dunked and then turned upside down in a controlled water environment.

The highlight was when we were totally inverted and seeing the nervous ones careering out of their sensory deprivation and overload towards the surface.

I sat patiently in my seat watching all this unfold - spatial disorientation, lots of irritating chlorinated water up my nose, the ‘leans’ and calmly hanging upside down like a water logged bat don’t easily scare this old helicopter ambo.

At one point, I was so engrossed in watching the others scrambling out that the safety diver had to pat me on the shoulders with a thumbs up in an attempt to get me to leave.

Breath holding is in my DNA.

It’s great completing the required currencies to maintain my AHPRA registration and off shore industry relevance.

I’d highly recommend this course and our friends at Perth based ERGT.

The more you practice, the less you scream.

The better your instructors, the safer you are and the more you learn.

RESPECT.🚑🚁🩺

My brave peers are also selfless hero’s.

Often copied, rarely matched.

No matter whether we are on a seismic vessel, an oil rig, on a mine site, a helicopter or battling to clear a child’s horrible airway in the back of an ambulance.

Not all hero’s wear capes…we’re out there often putting our own lives at risk to save others’ oftrn in the harshest of conditions.

Paramedics:

The Most Trusted Profession.

Australian(s) Of The Year:

On this fateful day in 1998, marine rescue vessels and rescue helicopters from Canberra, Victoria and New South Wales were scrambled to attend this Bass Strait emergency.

Jeff Hook, a gifted black and white cartoonist, very kindly gifted me this drawing of a helicopter rescue during the deadly 1998 Sydney To Hobart Yacht Race.

This is an accurate depiction of the incredible bravery shown by the helicopter crew and a down the wire Victorian Ambulance Flight MICA Paramedic rescuing a crewman using a Dauphine machine.

Story goes that the patient was almost drowned as a result of the ferocity of the storm that claimed many lives and crippled many vessels.

This is what our brave rescue helicopter crewies do to save the lives of our community during a once in a lifetime calamity.

Both the patient and the boat crew said the best sight they ever had in their lives was when the helicopter came into view through a bleak sky with the district sound of the Dauphine’s rotor slap and it’s Fenestron blades.

Five boats sank and six people died. Of the 115 boats that started, only 44 made it to Hobart.

Another group of first aid students.

This great bunch are NDIS support workers completing their first aid and CPR accredited courses.

They are an outstanding group of talented people who really enjoy the great and important work they do in our community.

They learned to;

- dispel the many myths around CPR
- how to safely use an AED
- to follow DRSABCD
- how to use PPE in Covid resuscitation
- leadership surrounding scene management during paediatric CPR
- how to be a safe and a capable first responder
- how to handover to paramedics
- how to be an integral part of the wider health care system
- the importance of debriefing each other, with the attending paramedics, consulting with their GP’s and using using professional services
- the hidden dangers lurking with PTSD

What else can go wrong???

What a scenario...

- A snake bite;
- two fractured legs;
- an eye injury;
- a fractured arm.

All this when their instructor becomes the patient...!

What a great day was had teaching a wonderful group of medical centre nurses about the basics of first aid.

‘The course was so practical Baf.
‘You fine tuned it to suit the needs of our busy practice.’

It’s great teaching like minded health professionals about the practical aspects of first aid.

We’re not a tick and flick shonky RTO. We recognise that lives depend on how well we empower our students to handle a once in a life time calamity.

We’ll go back in a few months for one of our ‘compressed learner review sessions.’

This re- enforces that our facilitation skills impart recallable competencies over time.

AED purchasers;

We’re often asked to train purchasers of some cheap and nasty AED’s after they’ve wasted their money with another supplier, and for free.

Are you serious?

After they realise that they will have to go through a full CPR accreditation, scenario based training, basic equipment upgrade(s) and responder certification, they soon realise that our initial quotes were very reasonable.

The race to save a dollar is often fraught with spending much much more.

Want a quality life saving course and a quality AED? Then contact us for one of our Complete Customer Care (CCC) package(s).

We’ll gladly come out on site and inspect your AED’s, recertify all your teams and make you both safe and compliant.

We’re just as sick as you are of the shonky not clinical suppliers out there in the AED market place.
