Really looking forward to this.

I will be telling my story - working shifts in the police, poor diet, developing Crohns and living with it and the medications and the steroid weight gain and then turning my back on conventional medicine and healing.

I will talk about what I learnt, what to eat and avoid, how I lost the weight, put on muscle and healed.

I will also be talking about dealing with the monumental stress I dealt with in the Police and there will be some really funny true stories and some sad ones.

I also want to help prevent people from being victims. We will discuss strategies to make you more confident and less likely to be targeted.

This is a story about turning your life around that will appeal to anyone who's had a bump in the road.

That is all.

Have a great weekend.

Gary Benzies’ story starts with his childhood in England and takes you on a rollercoaster journey through the challenges of being a policeman in the early 90's and living with Crohn’s disease.

If you've ever had to ditch a duty gunbelt and run into a field with urgent diarrhea you will understand just some of his plight.

Now retired from the police, Gary retells his experiences—complete with the mishaps, setbacks and triumphs that shaped his path to a full recovery and better health and fitness now than he had in his 20's.

His storytelling is laced with a sharp sense of humour and possibly some bad language, likely honed over 32 years on the frontline in the UK and WA, and isn’t for the faint-hearted or the politically correct.

Some of the stories are harrowing but theres always that police humour not far away.
Through his book Flushed, he shares an honest, courageous and often hilarious perspective on overcoming chronic illness.

Gary also talks about avoiding being a victim in life, whether a victim of crime or a victim of the media or medical business lies.

He hopes you walk away buzzing, more confident and better educated about nutrition, avoiding toxins in your everyday lives and with a smile on your face.

Well, well, well. It's now been ten years since I changed my lifestyle and healed myself and lost over 30kg and easily kept it off.

We haven't done any events for some time either. The last one was the night before lockdown at Fremantle Town Hall with Pete Evans with 400 people! Were you there?

Anyway, a lot has happened since then!

I've been lucky enough to share a stage with some great people including Pete many times, cardiologist Aseem Malhotra, Helen Padarin, Cyndi O'Meara, Christine Cronau, Damon Gameau and many others.

So, save a date!

More details to be confirmed later but I will be doing a small intimate gig in Perth on Tuesday 16th December from 6.30 pm to 8.30pm.

I will be talking about how I overcame Crohns, lost weight, became a qualified Primal Health Coach, gave up alcohol, 32 years of being a police officer and dealing with trauma and how to be a survivor and never a victim of crime and my love for martial arts and how it keeps me fit, supple and healthy as I approach my 60th birthday!

At the end we'll do a Q&A session when I'll tell all about my low tox living, my diet and sleep and sun hygiene routines.

Everyone attending will get a signed copy of my book, Flushed.

Details of venue/tickets will be here very soon!

This is so true.

If we don't step forward we never move on.

As soon as you are comfortable turn up the heat.

Mel has been attending line dancing classes just for fun with a friend and she's really enjoying it amd has progressed really fast. Her mum used to love it and it's a kind of homage to her memory.
We won't mention how much she spent on hand-made cowboy boots in Venice airport though...

Anyway, the other day her group did a display at a local event and I went to watch.

The lady who runs it called for volunteers to come on stage and have a go.

I cannot dance, unless you count the punk pogo or jab, cross, hook.

Nevertheless I got up and gave two dances a red hot crack. It was fun.

I remember once I'd lost all the weight and got healthy post Crohns and walked into my Muay Thai gym for the first time. It was intimidating, all these ripped guys with their shirts off punching and kicking each other.

But to fully experience life you need to push your boundaries.

Now my gym feels like home.

So push yourself.

Learn a new recipe, read a book , learn a language, go for a hike, travel, try a new hobby or sport.

We are a long time dead and the clock is ticking.

Ok, I'm kinda venting.

One of my absolute pet hates are perfumes and colognes.

Initially designed hundreds of years ago when people didn't bathe and stank to hide their odour.

Nowadays most people have access to water and can wash themselves.

But the marketing people have struck gold with the stupidity of people, lining up to pay hundreds of dollars to buy the next bigwig perfume so they too can smell like Kim Kardashian.

Firstly, it's not attractive. It's usually overwhelming and makes me gag.

Secondly, there are absolutely no regulations about what s**t is in this stuff. Stuff people liberally spray all over their neck where the skin is at its thinnest, right next to their thyroid. And then everyone scratches their head when their hormones are up the creek and they feel like s**t.

I absolutely detest social occasions where expectations are that you greet people with a hug. That means whatever s**t they are covered in transfers to me.

I had this at an event recently and I smelt like a whore's drawers.

I honestly felt violated. It's like a dog pi***ng up me, marking their territory.

I also gave someone a lift and the car stank for absolutely weeks.
There are so many ways you can smell good without buying into the designer label hype.

We use natural self care products that are still scented with natural essential oils, that are subtle and don't contribute to illness.

If anyone wants to know what we use send me a message and I'll hit you up.

It's possible to be clean, fresh and smell nice without overpowering the room and harming yourself and others.

It's called Poison for a reason.

They are mocking your gullibility.

Big Pharma strikes again.

There really is no such thing as a free lunch or a miracle pill.

Ozempic is currently facing numerous lawsuits due to claims that it causes serious side effects, including vision loss and gastrointestinal issues, without adequate warnings from the manufacturer, Novo Nordisk. As of November 2025, over 2,900 lawsuits have been filed, alleging that the drug's risks were not properly disclosed to patients.

So lucky living in the best city in the best country in the world.

Despite being led by morons, this place is amazing and filled with amazing people.

I did my shopping today at Manning Farmers Market and stocked up at Michael Lardis stall, Eurochef.

Amazing bacon with no nasty additives, made to an old family recipe the old fashioned way. Also got some guanciale (literally pig cheek in Italian) to go in a carbonara, so much better than bacon as it's fattier and goes really crispy. Also some pepperoni and some truffle and pecorino salami.

This stall reminds me so much of the artisan stalls in markets in Italy or Greece.

Michael is at most of the markets across Perth at the weekend or does delivery.

Just when you think councils have stooped as low s they can, have a look at this.

One of the best cafes in WA, Moore & Moore Cafe in Fremantle are having to deal with this rubbish now.

Their swing has been in place for years and I dread to think how many locals and tourists have had their photo taken here.

The cafe sells amazing seasonal, locally produced food and is a beacon in the dark.

Please click on the QR card amd sign their petition to keep the swing.

And share away please!

The average man over 50 hasn't done a push up in years.

Struggles to walk 3000 steps a day.

Sleeps like crap, gets up several times a night to p*e and snores.

Carries 20 kilos of belly fat and has man b***s.

Eats like he's 20.

Can't get off the floor without moaning.

Drinks more than 10 standard alcoholic drinks a week.

And still thinks he's 'in decent shape'.

And that was me. Spiralling out of control.
You're not falling apart because of age.

You're falling apart beause of neglect.

Move.
Fuel.
Recover.

No'-one's coming to save you.

I love this.

I used to be such a people pleaser. I'd get invited to boozy events I really didn't want to go to and would go, would hate it and then resent the fact that I'd given in to pressure.

I'd eat some cake so I didn't offend someone even if it might me ill.

Then I moved on and said I'd go to the party but didn't actually attend and would then feel bad.

My lifestyle changes, distrust of doctors and the whole medical model following my recovery, together with the BS that was COVID changed me.

I said no. A lot.

I refused 'medication'. I left my safe, well paid job. I would not wear masks and be silenced and would not adhere to being locked in my home.
I had to reinvent myself and at times it was pretty scary.
But somehow I always knew I was right and as it turned out, I was. And I always had the warrior beside me that is my wife. A more powerful woman I have yet to meet.

I just had to ride out the storm.

Now? I only ever do things I want to do. If I get invited to events that aren't my thing I politely thank them and say it's not for me, I dont make excuses and I just do me.

I no longer keep quiet about certain subjects in case someone reacts badly. I don't go courting confict but I don't avoid it either.

I stand in my truth.

And I learnt you can't please all the people all the time.

And I am so good with that.

It's only taken 59 years.
