Diving is high-risk work that requires more than skill; it demands strict safety protocols and strong employer accountability.

✅ Why it matters:

Diving work exposes workers to serious hazards, including drowning, decompression illness, equipment failure, and entrapment. One mistake underwater can be fatal.

✅ Worker Safety Comes First:

Every diver must be medically fit, properly trained, and fully equipped. Safe systems of work must be followed at all times, including conducting risk assessments and implementing emergency plans.

✅ Employer Responsibilities (PCBU):

Under WHS laws, employers must:
*Eliminate or minimise diving-related risks
*Provide competent supervision and instruction
*Ensure emergency procedures and communication systems are in place
*Maintain and inspect diving equipment regularly

✅ Failure to comply can result in:

*Severe penalties and legal consequences
*Prosecution under WHS legislation
*Risk to life and serious injury

Safety isn’t just best practice—it’s the law.

The temperatures are dropping, the days are shorter, and winter is officially here!

As winter sets in across Australia, it’s time to gear up for a safe and healthy season at work.

Whether you’re braving the early morning commute or working outdoors, it’s the perfect time to check in on your wellbeing, safety, and team spirit.

Tips:
Dress warm
•Layer up and wear thermal PPE. Don’t forget gloves, beanies, and weather-appropriate footwear.
Stay visible:
•Shorter days = lower visibility. Wear high-vis gear and check that lighting around the workplace is working.

Prioritise your health:
•Get your flu shot, wash hands regularly, and stay home if you’re unwell to stop the spread of winter bugs.

Look out for your mates:
• Looking out for each other keeps everyone safer, stronger, and supported. A small act of care can make a big difference.

Let’s embrace the chill with care, connection, and common sense. 💙

This month and every month we honor and celebrate the strength, resilience, and dedication of all working mothers, especially our incredible single moms who juggle careers, parenting, and everything in between with unwavering determination.

Being a mom is already a full-time job, and to do it while building a career, managing a household, and showing up every day with grace and strength is nothing short of heroic.

Your journey is powerful. Your sacrifices are seen. Your presence is deeply valued.

Let’s continue to uplift and support each other — in the workplace and beyond.

Happy Mother’s Day!

As the air cools and the days get shorter, it’s the perfect time to slow down, check in, and reset.

Here’s your gentle reminder to tune in to what your body and mind need this season.

1.Prioritise sleep
2.Eat seasonally (hello, root veg & soups!)
3.Move daily — even a 15-min walk counts
4.Protect your mindset with small, mindful moments
5.Hydrate — yes, even when it’s cooler!

Let this season be your soft start into better habits.

One of the most important roles of leadership in promoting workplace health and safety is cultivating a strong safety culture within the organisation. This involves fostering shared values, beliefs, and attitudes about safety that are consistently supported and reinforced through the organisation’s policies and practices.

1. Promote a Safety Culture
2. Provide Appropriate Resources that are fir for purpose.
3. Support Physical & Mental Health
4. Initiate Open, Timely, and Effective Communication.
5. Embrace innovative technologies that enhance safety outcomes, such as monitoring systems, automation, and data analytics.

Everyone Belongs.

This week, we proudly celebrate Harmony Week—a time to embrace the rich cultural diversity that makes Australia such a vibrant and welcoming place.

Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone. Whether through language, food, stories, or traditions, our differences make us stronger together.

Let’s take this opportunity to learn about and appreciate different cultures.

Together, we create communities where everyone feels safe, valued, and included.

Happy Harmony Week!

Fatigue is one of the most overlooked safety risks in the workplace. It slows reaction time, impairs decision-making, and increases the risk of injury — especially in high-risk environments, shift work, or jobs requiring focus and coordination.

Quality sleep and why it matters more than you think.

Whether you’re on-site, on the road, or at your desk, fatigue is a safety risk. It affects your focus, and increases the chance of mistakes and injuries.

Did you know?

Being awake for 17+ hours has the same impact on your brain as a blood alcohol level of 0.05%.
That means poor sleep can be just as risky as working under the influence.

✅ A full night’s sleep (7–9 hours) isn’t a luxury — it’s a crucial part of staying safe, sharp, and healthy.

This week, we’re encouraging everyone to:
• Prioritise rest and recovery
• Recognise the signs of fatigue
• Support a culture where it’s okay to speak up when you’re not 100%

Sleep well. Work safe. Stay well.

Effective communication ensures employees understand safety
rules, procedures, and protocols, preventing misunderstandings and accidents.
It also enables real-time hazard reporting, effective training, crisis
communication, collaboration, and cultural sensitivity. Clear and accessible
safety policies support a quick, coordinated response to emergencies.

In multicultural workplaces, communication should be adapted
to overcome language barriers, incorporate visuals, and respect cultural norms.
This ensures all employees understand safety expectations and contribute to a
safer work environment.

At Healthforce Group we enjoy working with our clients to be
responsive to the needs of their workforce and create bespoke and tailored
processes and tools to ensure culture and communication are supporting healthy
and productive workplaces.

Ensuring workplace safety goes beyond just having a set of rules—it’s about actively managing risks and protecting both your team and your business from potential harm. The approach to managing risks is straightforward, but critical: Identify, assess, control. And review and monitor.

Risk management doesn’t stop once you’ve implemented control measures. Regularly review your safety systems and monitor their effectiveness. Make adjustments as necessary to ensure your workplace remains as safe as possible.

HealthForce Group’s experienced Occupational Health and Safety specialists and qualified auditors can assist your business in identifying and managing health and safety risks in your workplace, both physical and psychological risk factors.
