Both Reflexology and Reiki are ancient healing modalities used primarily to reduce anxiety, stress and heal your body.
Many of today’s ailments (from weight gain and mental health issues through to cancer and heart conditions) stem from our increased pace of modern life. Our increased access to knowledge and technology has also led to our brains and bodies being bombarded with stressful signals, far beyond what we were created to cope with.
Therefore, it’s essential to work with the energy in and around our bodies, clearing the negative (stress, anxiety, environmental factors) and increasing the positive (happiness, freedom, calm).
In the Chinese practice of Reflexology, qi is the ‘vital energy’ that runs through our bodies. When we suffer trauma or stress, qi becomes blocked in our body. This can then lead to imbalance and illness. Reflexology uses the pressure points in our feet to clear the qi in the respective parts of the body, and improve the balance within us.
Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei (universal) and Ki (energy). When our Ki is reduced, we are more susceptible to illness, stress and disease. Reiki works with the body’s energy through the laying on of hands (but not necessarily touch) to rebalance and re-energise.
Reflexology
Reflexology can take the recipient to deep relaxation where healing happens mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically. Reflexology is a non-invasive therapy which compliments other therapies and medicine. It recognises that reflex points on the feet relate to specific organs and systems in the body. Using a combination of pressure techniques on these points, energy is moved, releasing blockages in congested areas related to particular stressors/tension.
Benefits of regular Reflexology include:
releasing pain
reducing stress
anxiety and headaches
balancing the nervous system
boosting the lymphatic system having a detoxifying effect
improving digestion, sleep and circulation.
Reiki
Reiki is a spiritual practice and healing art that began in the early 1900’s. Reiki is channelled through the hands of the Reiki practitioner into the energy bodies of the recipient and feels calming and restful as the energy works to clear energy blockages and aid healing.
Benefits can include:
enhance quality of life
decreases anxiety, stress and lifts moods
aids relaxation
