Connections Across Generations at Bethanie Joondanna

Our residents enjoyed a delightful morning with Green Leaves Early Learning Joondanna , engaging in fun activities, from ring tossing to colouring in. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect through fun and games, and the students did a great job at cheering on our residents!

We’re celebrating a win 🌟

Bethanie has won the Work Health and Safety Excellence Awards 2025 for ‘Best intervention to address a psychosocial hazard in the workplace’.

Our project, ‘Reducing workplace violence and aggression in aged care through environmental redesign’, began with an idea from the Bethanie Fields team and has since been adopted by all our sites to enhance Memory Support Areas.

The award recognised our practical, cost-effective, people-first approach to creating safer, more supportive workplaces.

As part of Spiritual Care Week, our Chaplaincy Team brought together residents, families, and staff from Bethanie Waters Aged Care Home, Retirement Village, and Perth South Metro Social Centre for a truly special event — the Waters Art Exhibition.

From paintings to pottery, diamond dot art to model ships, and even live piano music, the day was filled with heartfelt contributions and beautiful morning tea. 💕

🎶🍽️ A night of flavour and friendship

The Dinner Club at the South Metro Social Centre brought together our clients for a delicious three-course meal, featuring a hearty lamb roast with all the trimmings.

There were also a couple birthdays to celebrate, accompanied with a singalong that filled the room with joy and harmony, from the wonderful vocals and music of the 'Sassy Chicks'.

We were delighted to welcome a local Bunbury ballet group who brought elegance and joy to our residents. From pirouettes to heartfelt conversations, the visit was a beautiful reminder of how the arts connect generations and enrich our community.

Meet Irine – Our Caring Customer Engagement Nurse

Irine’s journey with Bethanie began in 2008 as a Care Worker. Her dedication and passion have seen her grow through the years, becoming an Enrolled Nurse in 2012, a Registered Nurse in 2018, and now in her role as our Customer Engagement Nurse at Bethanie Beachside.

When asked what she loves most about being at Bethanie, Irine shares warmly:
“The support I get here, from the learning opportunities to the amazing management.”

From the moment a new resident walks through our doors, Irine is there, working closely with them and their families to understand their needs and ensure they feel truly at home.

Irine, thank you for the understanding and kindness you bring to Bethanie Beachside. You’re helping to positively change the way our residents experience ageing every day.

Our residents had an action-packed morning at the 'Physical Games', bringing joy and a little healthy competition. With tennis balls, balloons, and pool noodles, everyone had a blast. With the winner being awarded a special 3D printed trophy, it was a fantastic way to spend the day!🏃 🏋️ 🏆
