R U OK? DAY || Today is R U OK? Day 2021. ⭐️🌞

A day designed to put mental health under the spotlight and encourage us to connect and check in with loved ones, friends & colleagues. With the current climate in our country, it is more crucial than ever to grab a coffee with that friend, have a Friday drink with a work colleague or make that phone call to your interstate family member. β˜•οΈ

That one question can make ALL the difference. Here's some tips when asking..
⭐️Actively listen to their answer, without judgement
⭐️Encourage them to take action
⭐️Make a time to check back in

TURF W**D MANAGEMENT 🌱

With all the fantastic rain of late, one thing that does become prevalent are those pesky w**ds in your beautiful lawn.πŸ’§
Luckily, majority of w**ds that poke up their heads during winter rains can be easily handled.

Below are a few tips to ensure your lawn continues to be the envy of the street.🀩

For common broadleaf w**ds like clover, bindii, cudw**d, fleabane, or dandelion a simple broadleaf herbicide such as Bow & Arrow is great get a handle on these w**ds.πŸ‘

Ensuring you do not mow the lawn for 48 hours prior to application and avoiding rain for at least 24 hours after applying will ensure the best possible results.🌧

Avoiding windy conditions when applying broad leaf spray is a must, as drift can damage other plants in your garden causing off target damage.πŸ’¨

Here is to a w**d free lawn during winter!πŸ˜πŸŒΏβ˜‚οΈ

NATIONAL TREE DAY || While every day should be tree day, Australia Celebrates National Tree Day Sunday August 1st.
It is a day where all Australians can get amongst the dirt and give back to their community in a fun and educational manner.
If you, your school, business or community would like to get involved, head to https://treeday.planetark.org/ and see how you can give back this tree day.

Planet Ark and Toyota are calling on all Australians to Get Outside and Grow and help make nature a part of our everyday lives where we live, learn, work and play. This year there're more ways to branch out and help.

Now that's commitment!πŸ˜‚πŸŒ· Happy Friday everybody!

Don’t let the cooler months deter you from getting stuck into the garden this winter. Read on to see what to get done in those winter months! πŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎβ˜”οΈ

1. Help the rain soak in: Extended periods of dry weather can leave your soil water repellent (hydrophobic). This can be fixed with a good soil wetting agent or seaw**d based additive 🌿
2. Get stuck into W**d control: With rain comes w**ds, make sure you remove them before they mature, setting seed and becoming a problem for years to come.πŸ’¦
3. Get on top of β€˜those’ jobs: We always avoid the not so fun/difficult tasks but now is the perfect time to relocate plants that are not thriving, fix your irrigation system while it is off for the season or build that garden path you have been talking about all summer.πŸ“
4. Veggie Patch: Winter is a great time to be planting brassica species such brussels sprouts and cauliflower or your leafy greens like lettuce and Bok choy. Take time to tidy up your veggie patch and re enrich your soils with compost. Also, no is a great time to start thinking about what kind of summer garden you would like!πŸ₯¦
5. Prune Prune Prune: Now is the perfect time to be pruning your deciduous trees (lose leaves in cooler months). Pruning your roses is a winter must and any time after July is a great time to get amongst the thorns. Be sure to apply a seaw**d based product to condition your soil afterwards and give your plants the best chance they have to survive the harsh winter monthsβœ‚οΈ
6. Start something new: Start planning what kind of garden you would like to have. Do you need more or less shade in certain areas? Would you like to plant more Native species to attract native wildlife to your out door space? These creatures will do wonders for your garden, pollinating and snacking on unwanted pest insects. Would you like to start a compost and worm farm? These are also wonderful for soil enrichment and fertilizer for a wide variety of plants. The possibilities are endless.πŸ›
Enjoy getting out and showing your garden some love this winter! πŸ’œ
