What a night for the Danny Bee Good team.

It's the most anticipated night of the bee-keeping industry, with the annual taste test of all the local bee-keepers in the southeastern region of Perth.

With entries ranging from South Perth to Jarrahdale, the night was set to be one of the greatest of it's kind. With 30 of the regions top bee-keepers tasting and critiquing one another's best honey samples for the year, it was a buzzing night to say the least.

With only three options for GOLD this year (light, dark or infused) - the Danny Bee Good team went all out once again with their different infused flavours.

The three time (in 4-year) Gold level award winner for cinnamon infused honey was met with a great challenge this year. Danny explained, "the challenge is that each season creates a different tasting honey as there is always variances in the many different types of flowers producing nectar at the time in question. Then when one goes to infuse it, what worked perfectly the last few years, simply doesn't taste the same with this year's floral mix put into the equation."

Danny still submitted his cinnamon infused, as an honorary previous winner but as he shared, "I knew that the lemon was the perfect mix this year".

The judges all agreed, voting a unanomous GOLD award for the amazing mixture of Danny Bee Good Lemon Infused Honey.

Now with four GOLDS around the necks of the Danny Bee Good team, we are already working out a whole new infused honey for next years competition.

If you would like some GOLD winning infused honey, we now have them in stock!!!

What a night for the team at Danny Bee Good Bee Farm, taking home a gold for their 2nd year in a row under the 'infused honey' category.

For the first time ever, their 'lemon infused' sensation takes home a silver award.

"With only two awards given in the 'infused honey' category, to have a full sweep this year has just been a validation to the hard work of our entire team," explained head bee-keeper Danny.

GOLD WINNER 🏆

What a night for the team at Danny Bee Good - taking home the Gold Award for our taste sensation “cinnamon infused honey”.

This bi-annual competition is voted on by industry experts and fellow peers in the beekeeping industry, proving once again that the honey quality at Danny Bee Good is amongst the very best in the world.

Head bee-keeper Danny was asked to explain his process for which he has vowed the recipe itself will remain a secret for generations, but he did supply us with this tip, “most people take the drags of their extraction and disguise it via infusion, whereas we use the very best quality as a base for all of our infusions ensuring the best end result possible.”

He went on to share another little secret about Danny Bee Good, “the rule of thumb is that one can extract a frame when it is 70% capped. We wait until it is over 97% capped ensuring the lowest moisture content in all of our honey, making it thicker and purer.”

When entry 46 was disclosed as the winner tonight, the team at Danny Bee Good couldn’t help but smile.

With a busy long weekend of extracting planned ahead, we hope to have an abundance of top quality honey for sale once again by next week.

Almost 2,000 hives have been destroyed following the detection of the varroa destructor mite which weakens and kills honey bee colonies. If it spreads further, it won't just be the supply of honey at risk, farmers could be hit too.

It has taken a little over three years since I wrote this, but the mite we were hoping to keep out of Australia has now arrived on our shores.

If you have unkept hives on your property, it’s now time to do the right thing and ensure they are eradicated so as to not spread disease that had the potential to decimate the entire industry in Australia.

Tonight, we have attended a seminar from the department as to what the approach will be when the varroa mite reaches WA. The first step will be the complete destruction of every bee hive within a 10km radius - both kept and unkept hives, all in an attempt to contain the spread. It will be absolutely devestating.

On behalf of all beekeepers, if you do have a feral wild hive, please do the right thing to ensure the spread of disease is contained.

A Geographe resident was shocked to find hundreds of honey bees had dropped dead in his backyard after they had been buzzing around a flowering gum tree. Andr...
