As an allied health practitioner, our rates a largely dictated to us by various government schemes (Medicare, Veterans Affairs, Workers Compensation, NDIS).
The NDIS had frozen the price to provide therapy support for the last 7 years.
2 Days ago, Allied health practitioners and in particular Physiotherapists were informed that their rates will be cut by over $40 per hour as of the 1st of July for providing services to NDIS patients.
We were also informed that we can now only charge a maximum of 30 minutes travel (round trip) for home visits, irrespective of the time taken.
Whilst this doesn't have a large impact on Seabreeze Physiotherapy currently, can I please encourage you to have a think about how this may effect patients and children on the NDIS who receive allied health support (Physio, OT, Speech, Dieticians). Particularly those who receive home and school based care.
This is a large slap in the face to all those who provide essential services to patients in the disability sector and will have large knock on effects.
If you woke up today and are happy to take a $40 an hour pay cut and not be paid for travel, feel free to ignore this post. Otherwise, could I please strongly suggest you sign the below petition.
Regards,
Bodie
