National Close the Gap Day is not just about raising awareness, but more importantly taking action. At Babbingur Mia, we see every day how strong and resilient our community is. But we also see the gaps that still exist in health, access, and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Closing the Gap means working together, community, services, and systems, to make sure our mob have access to culturally safe, high-quality care, and the opportunity to live long, healthy, and strong lives.

For Babbingur Mia to continue making this impact in our community, we need your support. Please sign the petition calling on the Australian Government and the Minister for Health, Mark Butler, to reverse the decision to stop funding this vital service.

Ochre Ribbon Week!

Aboriginal people across Australia continue to experience the detrimental impacts of family and domestic violence within our communities.

The Ochre Ribbon Campaign symbolises the collective voice of our people to stop violence and commit to fostering safer communities for our elders, women, children and men.

The colour and loop of the Ochre Ribbon represent the powerful connection to our lands and our lives. This connection intersects with the understanding that we all require the support of each other.

From this, we reflect on the resilience and strength of our people and the survivors of abuse, who hold many of the solutions needed to pave our own pathways to better standards of social, economic, and physical safety and well-being.

The Ochre Ribbon Campaign reminds all of us to take proactive steps towards contributing to making our communities safer, happier, and healthier places for our people to thrive.
