Today we celebrate and acknowledge the incredible work of Aboriginal Health Practitioners across the country, especially our very own Jordan, who has been an important part of the Babbingur Mia team for the past 6 years.

Jordan is the glue that holds our service together. As an Aboriginal Health Practitioner, she works closely with families across every stage of life, from antenatal and postnatal care, through to child health and adult health. Her deep genuine compassion and strong connections with community make her an invaluable part of our team and the care we provide.

Aboriginal Health Practitioners are essential in delivering culturally safe, holistic healthcare. They walk alongside clients, build trust, and ensure that services meet the unique needs of Aboriginal people.

Thank you, Jordan, for all that you do.

Happy National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day.

Today we recognise and celebrate the strength and resilience of our Kulungurs (children).

At Babbingur Mia, children’s health is at the heart of what we do. We know that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are more likely to experience health inequalities, discrimination, and disadvantage than their non-Indigenous peers.

That’s why we provide culturally safe and supportive care that helps our Kulungars grow up strong and healthy!

Last week, South Coastal Babbingur Mia proudly celebrated National Reconciliation Week 2025 with this year’s theme: “Bridging Now to Next.”

On Tuesday, we began the day with a lovely morning tea, where a few BBM staff members shared heartfelt stories about their families and experiences related to the Stolen Generation, which led into our Women’s Menopause Health Information Session, delivered by Babbingur Mia GP Dr Tilly.

Wednesday saw a collaboration between the City of Rockingham – Local Government and our BBM Women’s Yarning Group for a Good Quick Tukka Workshop. The women came together to create some delicious food while learning more about nutrition and healthy eating.

To round off the week, on Friday our BBM playgroup ventured out to Naragebup - Rockingham Regional Environment Centre.

The kids had a blast walking the bush trails, playing in the adventure park, and exploring all the exhibits inside. The highlights of the day were definitely the birds, stingray and lizards!

Today, we pause to remember the Stolen Generations — Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families, communities, and culture.

At South Coastal, we acknowledge the deep and lasting impact of this practice, and we stand in solidarity with First Nations peoples. Our commitment is to listen, to learn, and to keep striving for a future that embraces truth-telling, reconciliation, and meaningful change.
