Rockingham Area 🔥 PREPARE TO LEAVE🔥

A fast-moving bushfire is threatening parts of Cooloongup, Safety Bay, Waikiki and Warnbro this evening, with residents urged to prepare to leave as conditions continue to change.

Emergency authorities have confirmed a Watch and Act alert is in place, with a possible threat to lives and homes in the affected areas.

📍 The warning area covers locations bounded by Mandurah Road, Safety Bay Road, Wilmott Drive and Seagate Street within the City of Rockingham.

🔥 Fire behaviour
The fire is burning rapidly and is moving in a north-westerly direction, prompting increased concern for nearby communities.

🚧 Road closures in place
Several roads have been shut due to the fire, including:
• Safety Bay Road, closed between Baldivis Road and Ennis Avenue
• Ennis Avenue, closed between Wilmott Drive and Royal Palm Drive

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area where possible and allow emergency crews to operate safely. Traffic updates are available via Main Roads WA.

🚒 Emergency response
Firefighters are actively battling the blaze on the ground as conditions evolve.

🏠 What residents should be doing
People in or near the warning area are being urged to enact their bushfire plans now. Those intending to leave should do so early, taking emergency kits and essential items. Others should ensure homes are secured against smoke and embers, including closing doors and windows, managing evaporative air conditioners, and moving flammable items away from buildings.
