**CAPO Powerlifting Australia Addresses Concerns Regarding Alleged Violence at Recent West Australian Event**

19/5/2025 - CAPO Powerlifting Australia would like to affirm its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment at all events. We want to clarify that our federation does not tolerate violence in any form, regardless of the positions held or the individuals involved.

In response to recent concerns on social media about an alleged incident at or around a recent powerlifting event, we are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure that all concerns are addressed appropriately. We take these allegations seriously and are dedicated to upholding the integrity of our federation and ensuring the safety of our members.

We appreciate the community's patience as we work through this process. A report detailing the findings of our investigation will be released on conclusion, along with any necessary actions that will be taken to uphold our standards.

💔 RIP Dr Andrew Lock 💔
Still processing the unbelievable news that we have lost such a brilliant man, physio,mentor,lifter, the list goes on.

My thoughts are with , his daughter and his team at United Health Education.

I had the privilege of learning new skills and knowledge over the years from Andrew and his team. The personable approach to communication for advice with complex treatments, I'll forever be grateful.

He has left behind a legacy to be spoken about for years. Reading stories from others is heartbreaking, to know one of the greats has gone!🥹

Back before there was the internet and socials... We had lifters recording world records...

Way back in 1994, there were just 2 major powerlifting feds. There was the IPF and the breakaway WPC.

At the 1994 IPF Worlds, Ed Coan won the 100kg class with a total of 1035kg. Way back in second place was Russian lifter, Vladimir Markovsky, with 890kg. Over at the WPC Worlds, Paul Urchick from the US won the 100kg class with a total of 897.5kg.

Meanwhile, in Australia, there was a little known lifter that no one outside Auatralia had heard of, due to there being no internet and his lack of overseas travel, that totalled 960kg in the 100kg class at the CAPO Nationals (WPC affiliate)

Even today, 31 years later, lifters dont know that in 1994, Adam Coe was the 2nd best 100kg lifter in the World, and by a long way. Most people regard being second behind Ed is like being first anyway. He, with a few others, are legends of Australian powerlifting, the Aussie Ed.

🟢 Dry Needling 🟢
An effective way to release adhesions, trigger points and scar tissue...
Most common questions answered:
🟢 Yes, the needle is a fine acupuncture needle which comes in various lengths and are normally between .022 - .030 thickness .. compared to a blood test needle which is around a 18 gauge so dry needles are super fine!
🟢 No, they don't always twitch... Depending on how they are being used to release the tissue... On a trigger point in the traps then yes they may twitch yet it does depend on the client too... There is a difference between the client twitching and the muscle involuntarily twitching.
🟢 Does it hurt? Well they depends on the clients pain tolerance and apprehension to needles. Although there maybe discomfort when the trigger point is being release, most state a feeling of warmth radating from the spot and may feel heavy afterwards. But you should never want to have a constant nerve and sharp stinging pain during the treatment.
🟢 Some may be left with a small circular bruise at the needle site as it's difficult to avoid all small blood vessels and some just bruise a little easier than others.
🟢 No we never ever re use any of the needles - ewww gross!! And highly illegal! There are standards to adhere to regarding cross contamination rules.
