I've been reading a lot about cancer cells of late. My gosh, it's interesting.

I'm not one to fluff around, I don't read novels AT ALL, but all books of study. When I get on my treadmill it's usually a time where I educate myself in something đź’Ż. I do love learning.

What I've learnt today is meat is highly carcinogenic when it comes to burnt grilled meat and obviously highly processed meats.

When meat is grilled, BBQ’d, or cooked on really high heat (especially until it’s charred/blackened), it can form chemicals called:

HCAs (heterocyclic amines)
PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons)

These are linked to higher cancer risk when eaten a lot over time.
Basically: burnt = not great.

But that doesn’t mean: ❌ “Meat = cancer” ✅ It means “constant charred meat = higher risk”

How to BBQ smarter:
Don’t burn it ,trim off black bits
Cook lower + slower when you can
Marinate meat (reduces HCAs a lot)

Flip often instead of letting it scorch

Add veggies — they don’t form these compounds.
Perspective
If you’re having a BBQ now and then? No stress. If every meal is blackened, steak and snags? Maybe rethink it.
Also worth noting: processed meats (bacon, sausages, salami) have stronger links to cancer than fresh meat, regardless of the cooking method.

In Ayurveda, cysts are usually seen as a Kapha imbalance, often mixed with Vata or Pitta, depending on the type and location.

Core Ayurvedic causes of cysts
1. Kapha aggravation (main culprit) Kapha is heavy, sticky, slow. When it builds up:

🚫Mucus, fluid, or fatty tissue accumulates
🚫Channels (srotas) get blocked
🚫Fluid gets “trapped” → cyst formation

Common Kapha-raising habits:
🚫Too much dairy, sugar, fried food
🚫Cold, heavy, processed foods
🚫Sedentary lifestyle
🚫Eating late at night

2. Blocked channels (Srotorodha) Ayurveda says disease starts when flow is blocked:
Lymph, hormones, or reproductive fluids can’t move properly
Stagnation turns into swelling, nodules, or cysts

3. Weak digestive fire (Low Agni) Poor digestion = Ama (toxic residue):
Ama mixes with Kapha
Creates thick, sticky waste that settles into tissues
Over time → cysts, lumps, growths

4. Hormonal imbalance (Shukra / Artava dhatu) Especially with:
Ovarian cysts
Breast cysts
Sebaceous cysts

Linked to:
🚫Irregular eating
🚫Stress
🚫Suppressed emotions
🚫Poor sleep

5. Vata disturbance Vata governs movement:
When disturbed, it pushes Kapha into the wrong places
This explains cysts that come and go, grow suddenly, or cause pain

6. Emotional & mental factors Ayurveda doesn’t skip this:
Suppressed emotions
Long-term stress
Holding things in (anger, grief)
→ affects hormones + digestion → cyst formation
Dosha patterns (quick guide)

Kapha cysts: soft, painless, slow-growing
Pitta cysts: inflamed, red, tender
Vata cysts: irregular, painful, fluctuating

From an Ayurvedic perspective, ADHD-like symptoms (restlessness, poor focus, impulsivity, mental fatigue) are usually linked to an imbalance of Vata dosha (movement, nervous system), sometimes with Pitta (irritability) or Kapha (brain fog, low motivation).

Ayurveda focuses on calming the nervous system, strengthening the mind (Medhya Rasayana), and improving digestion (Agni).

Some clients wish to go down a holistic route. If this is you please book a consultation. There are amazing herbs to support you as well as lifestyle choices to embody.

$190 for a 1.5hr consultation, which includes herbs, assessment, client care report, and mini remedial.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, dandruff is mainly a scalp imbalance of the doshas, especially Vata and Kapha (and sometimes Pitta).

🌿 Ayurvedic view of dandruff (Darunaka)
In Ayurveda, dandruff is often called Darunaka and is linked to:
Dryness (Vata) → flaking, itching, tight scalp

Excess oil & buildup (Kapha) → sticky flakes, heaviness, blocked follicles

Heat/inflammation (Pitta) → redness, burning, irritation

Most people have a Vata–Kapha imbalance.

Causes according to Ayurveda
Dry climate or cold wind
Excess washing or harsh shampoos
Poor digestion (Agni imbalance)
Stress & lack of sleep
Too much processed, fried, sugary food
Dehydration
Suppressing natural urges (sweat, bowel movements)

Ayurvedic scalp & hair care remedies
Oil therapy (Abhyanga – very important)
Oiling nourishes the scalp and calms Vata.

Best oils for dandruff:
Bhringraj oil – balances all doshas
Neem oil – antifungal, Kapha-reducing
Coconut oil – cooling (good if Pitta involved)
Sesame oil – deeply nourishing for dry dandruff

How to use:
Warm oil slightly
Massage into scalp 5–10 min
Leave 30–60 min (or overnight)
Wash with mild herbal shampoo
👉 2–3 times per week
