2023 and a new chapter is starting in my life with the arrival of the New Year. For most of 2022, I was moving away from doing funerals and memorials and heading more and more into retirement. So, with the start of another year, I have finally announced officially that I am no longer available for funeral services.
In 2010, after teaching thousands of kids, I retired from education to begin my celebrancy business. Along the way, I have married many couples and performed many naming ceremonies and have officiated at hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of funerals. I have been privileged to have been a part of the happy events of weddings and namings and have many fond memories of those couples and families as they started new journeys together. My second retirement occurred in 2017 when I deregistered as a Marriage Celebrant because I wanted to see my far away grandchildren.
The greatest gratitude and satisfaction has been helping so many people say goodbye to their loved ones. To be accepted into their homes unconditionally to help them has been the greatest honour I could ever receive. I will miss the many contacts that I made in the funeral industry and I know some of them will always remain friends.
I have been blessed throughout my life to have been a part of some many lives whether it was teaching or celebrancy and to know that I have an impact on many lives as a result.
Now, my third and final retirement happens as I start the next of adventure of doing just what I like- spending time with family and friends and planning holidays with Kelvin by my side is looking very good. To those celebrants and funeral staff that I have known over the years, thank you for your support, friendship but mostly, your laughter and shared conversations, I will miss you! To all the families I have met, thank you for the trust you placed in me to be a part of those very special moments in your lives.
"Celebrations of Life-Kerrie Hayes' is officially closed!
