A moment worth looking back on.

Earlier this month, RAAFA launched the Sugarbird Lady Award in Broome - a tribute to Robin Miller, a pioneering nurse and pilot who flew vaccines to remote communities across WA. The award recognises a graduating nurse working in the Kimberley who continues that legacy of care.

To celebrate the occasion, Robin's own Mooney M20E touched down in Broome from NSW, flown by owner Fred Clej.

We also paid our respects at Robin’s grave, almost 50 years after her passing, and reflected on the remarkable impact she made.

A big thank you to Robin’s sister Marie McGaw and RAAFA Division Councillor Charles Page for their efforts in helping bring this important recognition to life.

We’re grateful for the support and shared respect shown by everyone who joined us in honouring her story.

2025 marks 85 years since the Battle of Britain.

It was a turning point in the war, and it came at a heavy cost. Of the 537 RAF Fighter Command pilots who lost their lives, at least ten were Australian, and another four, who were serving in the Royal Australian Air Force, died.

Churchill’s words remind us of their sacrifice: “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.”

We remember them. Lest we forget.

Today is R U OK? Day - a reminder of the power of a simple conversation.

Reaching out to a friend, a neighbour or someone you haven’t spoken to in a while can make all the difference. Sometimes just asking “Are you OK?” is exactly what someone needs to hear 💛

What a fantastic afternoon at the Women of the Air Force WA Branch High Tea Fundraiser!

Over 80 women from across the Services came together at RAAFA Club to share stories, enjoy a beautiful high tea, and raise more than $2,000 for ARVL.

A huge thank you to the organisers for their passion and dedication and for making this annual event such a success.

Last week, we officially broke ground on the Andrew Russell Veteran Living (ARVL) project in Cannington - a milestone moment for RAAFA WA and the veteran community.

ARVL will deliver 16 purpose-built homes with wrap-around support services for veterans experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. Named in honour of Sergeant Andrew Russell, the first Australian soldier killed in action in Afghanistan, this project is about more than bricks and mortar - it’s about dignity, respect and a community standing behind its veterans.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on site to mark the first step in bringing this important project to life.

RAAFA recently hosted its first member-only event - an inspiring afternoon with guest speaker Dr Tony Bleetman, air ambulance pioneer and author of 'What Could Possibly Go Wrong?'

Held at Air Force Memorial Estate, the event gave members a fascinating look into the world of emergency medicine from the skies, with Dr Bleetman sharing stories from his time flying with Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS).

A big thank you to everyone who came along. This is just the beginning of more exclusive member events to come!
