Do you ever wonder what we look for when we take swabs of your pets ears for cytology?🔬🦠

There are three things we look for when a patient presents for a possible ear infection:

- Yeast
- Cocci bacteria
- Rod bacteria

These types infections can be easily treated with various medications.

If your pets have symptoms such as itchy ears, shaking their head, dark debris in ears, and/or redness please call us (902-455-7292) to book in with one of our amazing veterinarians to see if your pet has any yeast, cocci, or rods that are causing an infection!

Meet Sam!🐈🐾

Sam has quickly captured the hearts of the Herring Cove Vet team this week!🧡

He first visited the hospital on Monday, after decreased appetite and vomiting over the weekend. Dr. Wambolt-Way admitted Sam to the hospital for IV fluid therapy and diagnostics.🩺

On Tuesday, Dr. Estabrooks took him into surgery for an exploratory and found the end of a Nerf dart in his intestines!

With lots of continuous monitoring, IV fluids, love, and medications Sam was able to go home last night! He returned today for some more fluids but his surgery was a success and he is feeling much better now!❤️‍🩹
