The one question I would always ask before agreeing to an induction:

“What’s my Bishop Score?”

Most people have no idea what this is - and yet it’s one of the strongest indicators we have of how an induction is likely to go.

But they rarely share it unless you ask.

It’s literally a score based on your cervix and baby’s position.

A low score? That body is not ready. You’re signing up for a long, hard, sometimes traumatic experience.

A high score? Your chances of a smooth vaginal birth go up significantly.

Please don’t say yes to induction without this number. And don’t be afraid to ask for it.

Have you ever been told your Bishop’s Score? Did you know to ask? Share in the comments 👇

Save this if you want to make truly informed decisions about induction and share it, tag a friend who needs to know.

Stillbirth is real—and heartbreaking.

But using broad statistics out of context to pressure healthy women into induction isn’t informed care.

It’s fear-based control.

Every woman deserves truth, nuance, and support—especially when navigating risk. Your body isn’t broken.

You deserve real care, not coercion.

Good morning!

The NSDA team is hosting a walk in the park to bring awareness to our organization and create a sense of community. There will be a few local prizes to give away as well as a balloon for kiddos to walk with and a face painter on site!

This sport is 🫣

This weekend, we were so lucky to witness an incredibly inspiring achievement from and her family at 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 🏃‍♀️

Not only has Stephanie won the 100k race after giving birth to her daughter 6 months ago. 😳

Not only has Stephanie breastfed her girl several times along the way at the aid stations. 🤱🏻

But she has also won the race starting her race from far behind, with no access to an elite bib. Just wow. Kudos for the rest of your life Stephanie 🎩

What a story. What a sport ! 😍

While every birth that I have the honour to attend is special, there are some days that simply fill my cup and reaffirm why I LOVE this work. This work……It’s hard, it’s tiring, it’s stressful, it’s messy, it’s frustrating, it’s scary, it’s uncertain, but it’s also inspiring, fulfilling, empowering, affirming, redemptive and leaves me in a state of wonder and amazement in the capacity of people in birth. Thank you to those who entrust me to share in their journey and support them in any way that I can.

This one got me right in the feels today. These words perfectly capture the season we are in and how each day I am clutching on to my babies as they grow so fast and the days whiz by before our eyes.

This is 💯 me!

The cervix is not a crystal ball!🔮

The cervix is not a crystal ball!🔮

Not being dilated before labor begins is NORMAL. In fact if you were dilating before 36 weeks that would be concerning, not exciting. We see this SO much; women in our community who are defeated because they aren’t dilated at their 37-40+ week appointments. But here’s the reality…

LABOR is what kickstarts dilation. Until then, not being dilated means that your cervix is doing its job, which is to keep baby inside until it’s time to deliver. If you feel like knowing if you’re dilated or not is going to mess with your headspace, then you have every right to decline cervical checks.

So women of strength, we KNOW the end of pregnancy is such a mental game. But we promise you are not broken if your cervix isn’t dilated before labor begins. And your cervical dilation tells you absolutely nothing about how successful your labor will or will not be. 💜

Drop a 🤍 in the comments 👇🏼 if any of these truths resonate with you, or share one thing you wish others understood about postpartum during the holidays?

The holidays are filled with twinkling lights, traditions, and love, but for new mothers, they can also bring exhaustion, overstimulation, and invisible struggles that often go unnoticed.

This season, I asked thousands of mothers to share what they wish others understood about being postpartum during the holidays. Their responses were raw, vulnerable, and deeply honest.

Things like:
💛 The anxiety of balancing safety and family expectations.
💛 The exhaustion of just showing up, even when their heart isn’t fully there.
💛 The invisible mental load of keeping everything running while adjusting to life with a newborn.

For mothers in this season of life, the holidays don’t always look picture-perfect. Traditions might feel different. Rest might feel impossible. And joy might feel quieter, softer, but no less profound.

If you’re navigating postpartum right now, I want you to know:
✨ You’re allowed to set boundaries, even when it’s hard.
✨ You’re doing an incredible job, even if it feels invisible.
✨ You are enough, just as you are, in this messy, beautiful, transformative season.

And to everyone else: Please hold space for the mothers in your life. Offer grace, love, and understanding without conditions. This season is magical, but it’s also heavy, and your kindness could make all the difference. 💛
