🦈 While sabbatical in Sri Lanka, Alison found herself (and her future scientists ?) attending a biomechanics session at Sharks International…because apparently physios can’t help themselves. 😅

One research poster explored how shark and ray cartilage adapts to the forces and pressures placed upon it — surprisingly similar to how human tissues adapt to load and movement.

As physios, we use these same evidence-based principles every day in rehabilitation:
➡️ apply the right load
➡️ at the right time
➡️ in the right way
➡️ and the body adapts

Humans are resilient beings. We are designed to adapt, recover and get stronger with the right guidance. Apparently sharks are too!

Maybe a future branch of animal physio = shark physiotherapy…🦈💪🤣
