After a week of very deep work, the long weekend provides much needed rest. But, holiday weekends can also bring challanges and a mix of emotions while on your recovery journey. Thank you to Bags of Love Association -Nova Scotia for lovely the Easter care bags. Just the love and support the residents needed to end the day and move into the weekend.

Self-love is a big part of healing.

On Friday, we celebrated a double graduation with two extremely, hard-working, dedicated women. Congratulations! We are so proud of you. Their advice to others on their recovery journey had a shared theme. It is important to (re)learn to love yourself.

For your Sunday reset, what steps will you take this week on your journey to self-love?

Thursday we celebrated another graduation. Six months of hard deep work. We are so proud of you!

Our graduate shared these powerful, inspiring words.

"If you're feeling like you've lost everything, I want you to know something - your story is NOT over. No matter how far addiction has taken you, there is still a way forward. Healing doesn't happen all at once. It happens in small moments - choosing to stay when you want to run, speaking the truth when it's uncomfortable, and learning to believe that you deserve a life that isn't controlled by addiction or pain."

Lids. Lids. Where is the matching lid?

At The Marguerite Centre, residents learn life skills and healthy eating habits. Residents work together cooking meals for the whole house and recieve food safety training. Safe storage of those yummy leftovers is important. Our tupperware drawer is running very low with a full house and years of active use. We are seeking donations of new food-safe, microwave-safe, storage containers of all sizes. If you can help, feel free to drop off donations, send a message, or give us a call to make arrangements.

Our work would not be possible without our amazing community of support. Thank you!

Can you help out? After months of deep work, graduation is a moment of celebration and big transition. One of our residents is graduating very soon and returning to New Brunswick. They are in need of extra large bags to get their stuff home by bus. Do you have a gently used hockey bag, extra large duffel bag, or an oversized suitcase you no longer need? Please contact us or drop it off at the centre.
As always, thank you to our amazing supportive community.

Yesterday a donor dropped off a box of clothing donations with a wonderful message for our residents. These little things mean so much! 🩷

It takes a village. We are so grateful for our community of donors who play a critical role in our mission. Be it cash or in kind donations, we could not do it without you. Thank you!

Sharing the words of Natasha Lyonne today to remind you that recovery is not linear, you are not alone, and you are loved.

"Recovery is a lifelong process. Anyone out there struggling, remember you’re not alone. Grateful for love & smart feet. Gonna do it for baby Bambo. Stay honest, folks. Sick as our secrets. If no one told ya today, I love you. No matter how far down the scales we have gone, we will see how our experience may help another. Keep going, kiddos. Don’t quit before the miracle. Wallpaper your mind with love. Rest is all noise & baloney." - Natasha Lyonne.

Today, on the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, we honour the 14 women whose lives were tragically taken:

Geneviève Bergeron | Hélène Colgan | Nathalie Croteau | Barbara Daigneault | Anne-Marie Edward | Maud Haviernick | Maryse Laganière | Maryse Leclair | Anne-Marie Lemay | Sonia Pelletier | Michèle Richard | Annie St-Arneault | Annie Turcotte | Barbara Klucznik-Widajewicz

The December 6th team recognizes that experiences of violence occur across a broad spectrum. We believe survivors and we are here to help.

The YWCA December 6th Fund supports women, gender diverse, trans, and Two-Spirit individuals that are seeking supports for attaining safety or stability following an experience of violence. The December 6 team can support with safety planning, resource navigation, and access to mobile devices. The program also offers financial resources in the form of non-interest bearing microloans to be paid towards urgent housing-related expenses, including rent, deposits, and emergency relocation costs.
