A proud day for care and community in Nova Scotia.

Today, Northwood, Akoma Holdings Inc., and the Province of Nova Scotia came together to celebrate the start of construction on the Akoma Campus — a new long-term care home in Westphal that will provide modern, inclusive, and compassionate care for seniors.

Located on the historic Akoma lands, the new facility will also create meaningful local employment and honour the land’s legacy as a place of leadership, renewal, and belonging within the African Nova Scotian community.

Thank you to Minister Barbara Adams, Minister Twila Grosse, Akoma Holdings Inc., and all who joined us to mark this milestone moment.
