Residents enjoyed a fun-filled week thanks to the amazing Recreation teams in Miramichi! Losier Hall hosted a lively Happy Hour with snacks, music, games, and even some dancing, while Bridgeview Hall brought the fun outdoors with courtyard games and sunshine.

Harbourstone Enhanced Care was filled with joy thanks to a wonderful four-week partnership with BGC Cape Breton! Youth from BGC brought creativity, laughter, and fun through tie-dye projects, crafts, water games, lawn activities, and even scenic Trishaw rides. Huge thanks to BGC Cape Breton for bringing such meaningful energy and connection to the community!

We are proud to have partnered with the University of New Brunswick on the inaugural Mentoring to Lead: Long-Term Care Summer Institute! It was inspiring to support the next generation of nurses as they gained real-world experience in our Shannex Enhanced Care communities.

We recently celebrated the completion of the inaugural Mentoring to Lead: UNB-Shannex Long-Term Care Summer Institute.

Seven senior nursing students participated in a 15-week mentorship at Shannex residences that involved hands-on work with preceptors in long-term care and an intensive research project about trauma-informed care.

This outing is a highlight of the year, and residents are already counting down the days until next year!

Shannex Cares Community Spirit Grant recipient highlight!

Welcome Inn Community Centre provides meals, educational sessions, and volunteer-driven programs to combat isolation among older adults through their Diners Club and Community Visitation Program.

For more than 10 years, Doug has been a member of the Diners Club, but more recently joined the Community Visitation Program and was matched with Al. Over the years, their friendship has grown into something special. Stories like Doug and Al’s show the true power of community, and we're honoured to help make these stories possible.

Summer kicked off at Arborstone Enhanced Care with a few sweet treats! Recreation Programmer, Anna, made delicious mocktails to keep cool and the team hosted a Strawberry Shortcake party where residents lent a helping hand and prepared the strawberries. It was a bit of a sticky situation!
