There’s something I realized early in my career.

Care should never feel mechanical.

At one point, I worked in an organization where files were separated by colors.
One color meant active clients.
Another color meant closed cases.

It was efficient.
It was organized.
But something about it felt wrong.

Because behind every “case” was a human being.
A mother.
A grandfather.
A person with history, dignity, and a family that cared deeply.

That moment stayed with me.

When I built ABCare, I knew one thing:

There was a moment early in my career that I never forgot.

In one office, client files were sorted by colour.

Blue bins — active clients.
Yellow bin — clients who had passed away.

I remember the first time someone said casually:

“Put this one in yellow.”

It wasn’t cruel.
No one meant harm.
It was just… routine.

But something in me stopped.

Because in that moment, a life became a colour.
A person became a folder.
A story became paperwork.

Behind that file was someone who once sat in a chair like this,
drinking tea,
waiting for a caregiver,
hoping not to be a burden.

And now — a yellow bin.

That day I understood something:

The danger in healthcare isn’t always negligence.
Sometimes it’s normalization.

When death becomes administrative.
When loss becomes workflow.
When care becomes logistics.

Large systems have to organize things.
I understand that.

But we can never allow ourselves to forget that these “cases” are human beings.

Every file once had a heartbeat.

And if we ever treat it like just another box —
we are in the wrong profession.
