Salamba Sirsasana: The King of Asanas
This beautiful pose teaches us to be humble and brave at the same time. Once the physical actions of the posture are learned, usually at the introductory level, one can take time to explore the subtler qualities of balance including that of surrender. One of my favorite BKS Iyengar quotes is āyoga does not change the way we see things, it transforms the one who seesā. In sirsasana we most definitely see the world differently, but its in continuity of practice and learning that we become transformed by this work.

My yoga practice is a constant companion and source of unlimited joy and peace. My practice is a work in progressāevolving and maturing as I do. Each time I step on the mat I am learning, sometimes discoveries happen out of nowhereāand other times after years of inquiry. Building a home practice definitely requires commitment to get on the mat, but that doesnāt mean it needs to be complicated. This video shows a quick 5-minute practice (sped up) consisting of a few sun salutations. Start smallābut be consistent.
