This patient had 2 primary issues to work on today - stress and hip pain. I used the Pointo Select to find two highly active points. The machine is great because pinpoint precision is paramount. The points that lit up in a major way were the depression point and a hip point on the back of the ear. 10hz/22mins was a very nice treatment. There are a couple of important things to consider when stimulating the ear with electricity:

1) sensory nerves are on the front of the ear (pain) and motor nerves are on the back of the ear (function). In this case, by pushing the needle through we can stimulate both sensory and motor nerves. That’s where #2 comes in…

2) The body is a Hi Q Circuit. This means the body will take the electrical current and use it where it’s needed most. Of course this is just one aspect of a Hi Q Circuit!

For some, the Holidays are a stressful time of year. Did you know that stress creates inflammation? Did you know that inflammation causes all sorts of pathologies like autoimmune disorders and cancer?

This patient came in with high stress levels, not sleeping well and right side neck pain.

Her before and after was dramatic. She could barely keep her eyes open afterwards and the tight muscles were as soft as marshmallows(!) It only took 1 visit, 20mins long to switch her from sympathetic nervous system overdrive into a nice, relaxed, parasympathetic nervous system dominance.

First, I used the Pointo Select to find the exact area(s) to target in the ear. With the ear, pinpoint precision is much more important than what I was taught in Acu school. The 2 points here are the depression pt and a point in the cervical spine at approximately C5.

Then I focused on the #1 stress muscle - upper trap(Gb21) and the #1 pain generator in the neck - levator scapulae (Si14).

All 3 areas were stimulated with 2.6hz (one of Dr Nogier’s frequencies) for 20mins.

Why was this treatment so effective?? Because the focus was the root cause (stress) first, and the symptoms (short, tight muscles) second.

I very much appreciate all of the support - for the votes but also in life in general. It means a lot to me. See you soon!

The Windlass Effect!

A “windlass” is the pulling of a cable or rope. It could be something like pulling an anchor but in this case we’re talking feet.

During the pre-swing phase of a run, with optimal dorsiflexion, there is an increase in the angle of the 1st metatarsophelangeal (MTP) joint of the big toe. This engages the medial arch (plantar aponeurosis), creating a spring used to push off with and also absorb forces.

So, if the big toe isn’t moving how the universe intended, there can be discomfort from the arch to the medial side of the heel. Thats exactly what this distance athlete was complaining about - pain in the medial side of the heel. After restarting a few sub-optimal muscles, my focus went to the area of pain. The treatment was simple…

-Abductor Hallucis
-Flexor Hallucis
-Kd3 region to stimulate Tibial Nerve
-Estim 20mins

2 days later she messaged to say that she ran
and feels the best she’s felt in months!
