What is a grief group, really?

It’s not about sharing everything.
It’s not about being put on the spot.
Most people spend more time listening than speaking.

It’s a space to:
🤍 Hear from others who understand loss
🤍 Sit with your own experience without pressure
🤍 Feel less alone in what you’re carrying

Interested in joining? Send us a DM and we’ll get you the details.

Your thoughts can feel like facts—but they’re not.

Cognitive defusion helps you create space from them, so they don’t run the show.

You don’t have to believe everything you think.

Grief doesn’t follow a timeline.

And it’s not something you have to carry on your own.
For many people, the hardest part of grief is feeling alone in it.

A grief group offers something different—a space to listen, relate, and be alongside others who understand loss in their own way.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, this could be a place to gently begin moving forward.

Interested in joining the grief group? Send us a DM and we’ll get you started!

Meet Maiya! ✨

Maiya is a Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidate joining our team on March 30th, and she’s here to support you through anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and the perinatal period.

She supports clients navigating everything from complicated birth experiences to anxiety, panic, and the emotional weight of new or changing roles.

Her approach is warm, structured, and flexible—blending DBT skills with somatic and mindfulness-based practices to help you regulate your emotions and reconnect with your body.

Outside of sessions, you’ll find Maiya exploring the outdoors, spending time with her dog, or creating music as a pianist and songwriter.

For many people, therapy used to mean commuting to an office, sitting in a waiting room, and trying to fit appointments into an already busy schedule.

Today, more people across Nova Scotia are discovering that therapy can happen in a different way.

Online therapy allows you to connect with support from your own space, whether that’s your living room, your office, or anywhere you feel comfortable. For many people, removing travel, parking, and scheduling barriers makes it easier to begin therapy and continue it.

The quality of therapy isn’t about the room you’re sitting in. It’s about the relationship, the presence, and the support you experience.

If you’re curious about how online therapy works and why more people are choosing it, Roy Ellis explores this in our latest article.

Radical acceptance is about acknowledging reality as it is — even when it’s painful or not what you wanted.

It doesn’t mean you agree with it or like it. It simply means you stop fighting what has already happened, so you can move forward with more clarity and self-compassion.

If you’re learning how to sit with difficult emotions, therapy can help. Reach out at hello@becometherapy.ca to connect with one of our therapists 💛

Today is a moment to recognize the strength, care, resilience, and leadership women bring to their communities, families, and workplaces every day.

It’s also a reminder that behind the roles many women carry — caregiver, partner, professional, friend — there is a person who deserves space, support, and understanding too.

At Become Therapy, we are grateful to work alongside women in many seasons of life as they navigate growth, healing, and change.

Today we honour the women who support others, and the ones who are learning to support themselves with the same compassion.

Right now, it’s like this.

This Buddhist phrase is a gentle reminder that whatever you’re feeling in this moment is just that — a moment.

Not the whole story. Not forever.

When we pause and acknowledge “right now it’s like this,” we create a little space for compassion. Instead of judging ourselves for feeling overwhelmed, sad, or stuck, we can simply notice what’s present.

You don’t have to rush to fix everything. Sometimes the most supportive thing you can do is slow down and meet yourself with care.

If you’re moving through a difficult season, therapy can help. Learn more at becometherapy.ca or reach out at hello@becometherapy.ca 💛

Trauma-informed care and trauma treatment aren’t the same thing 🤍

Trauma-informed therapy means you’re met with understanding — how past experiences may be showing up in your anxiety, relationships, boundaries, or sense of self. Trauma treatment is when you decide you’re ready to gently process those experiences more directly.

If you’re starting to notice old patterns that don’t feel good anymore, you deserve support that feels safe and empowering.

Loving someone doesn’t mean it’s always easy.

If you’re feeling stuck in the same arguments, disconnected, or unsure how things shifted — you’re not alone. Couples therapy can help you understand the patterns underneath the conflict and learn how to communicate in a way that actually brings you closer.

You deserve a relationship that feels secure and supportive.

Ready to take the next step? Reach out to us at hello@becometherapy.ca.

Let’s chat about taking in the good ✨

Life can feel like a constant push to do more, be more, figure it all out. Our brains get really good at spotting what’s wrong—and skipping over what’s going right.

“Taking in the good” is the practice of pausing and truly noticing the good moments. The compliment, the small win, the friend who shows up, your morning coffee... Sitting with them for just a few extra seconds can strengthen your sense of self and emotional resilience.

Want support building practices like this into your life? Reach out to us at hello@becometherapy.ca 💛
