Today is a milestone for one of our good people, Tareq Hadhad! He is celebrating 10 years in Canada. Not only did the lives of Tareq and his family change when they arrived on Canadian soil but our lives changed too. Meagan Davidson is widely recognized for her expertise in talent curation, grant writing, and consulting, serving as a trusted resource for artists, organizations, and partners across the music industry.

A dedicated music fan with deep knowledge of Canada’s emerging and established talent, Meag leads several talent bookings at VOX working with an extensive roster of artists from the east coast. Over the past year, she has secured talent for major national events throughout the region, including conferences, private engagements, music festivals, and fan zones at national sporting events.

Meag is a natural fit at VOX—fun, engaging, and an exceptional communicator. She is passionate about the business of live music and is committed to championing artist development while continuing to build her own professional brand.

Beyond her work with VOX, Meag plays an active role in shaping the Canadian music landscape. She is an artist manager and co-owner of the independent label Tiny Kingdom Music, based on the West Coast of Canada, which she operates with her business partner and close friend.

Meagan also contributes to industry advocacy and policy development as the vice-chair of Music Nova Scotia and as a board member of the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA), working to strengthen and support Canada’s independent music sector.

Dear friends,
Today, we are sharing the announcement of our biggest project since we started this journey, and something we never imagined possible when we first arrived in Canada.

Our family’s story is becoming an animated feature film called Shokolata, produced in Hollywood by Rising Tides Films.

The film name means chocolate in Arabic, and is being shaped by an extraordinary global team artists who have worked on some of the most iconic animated films from Disney, DreamWorks, and Sony. People who helped bring to life movies like Shrek 2, Prince of Egypt, Madagascar, Trolls, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie are now bringing our memories of Damascus and Nova Scotia, Canada to the screen.

This is a huge milestone that means so much to our community and to families who have lived through stories like ours.
Shokolata is about celebrating home, love, courage and resilience. We believe that peace can survive even in the darkest moments.

It’s also one more way we are trying to share our message: through chocolate, through storytelling, and now through animation.

Humanity is stronger than hate, and kindness can rebuild what war breaks.
We are beyond grateful for this moment, and we cannot wait for the world to experience this film with us. 🍫
