We wouldn't exist without mothers.
Her womb, her body, her sacrifices, her care, her worries, her research, her friendships, her community.
We wouldn't exist without mothers.
She made choices for us. She worked and tried hard for us. She paid for things. She drove us places. She dropped whatever she was doing to help us.
We wouldn't exist without mothers.
She grew up as we were growing up. She experienced things we were never aware of. She cried, screamed and stressed, probably without us even knowing. Then held our hand, squeezed us tight and kissed us goodnight.
We wouldn't exist without mothers.
Mothers come in all shapes, sizes, ages and colours and have existed from the very beginning. Generations of mothers experienced things beyond our imagination: having no voice, no worth, no power. Honouring mothers, honours all of them.
Celebrating mothers has only been "a thing' for the last hundred+ years.
We wouldn't exist without mothers.
Today we celebrate all types of mothers:
Birth moms, step moms, dad-moms, dog moms, cat moms, auntie-moms, grandmoms, second moms, new moms, going through fertility moms, pregnant moms, adopted moms, those who yearn to be moms, moms-in-law, moms we miss; and many more types of moms.
Moms don't ask for much. A hug and "Happy Mother's Day" is perfect. Do more, do less, either way; today we observe the majesty of mothers.
