With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Randy Nunn, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather, who left this world on November 15, 2025.

Born on January 14, 1958, in Ottawa, Ontario he spent the first seventeen years of his life moving around Canada as his military father took on new postings. When he was eighteen, he came to Alberta and started working in the oil patch until his retirement in December of 2024.

Randy lived a full and generous life defined by hard work, unwavering dedication, and an unforgettable sense of humor. He spent a large portion of his working life behind the wheel as a truck driver—a career that perfectly matched his strong work ethic and love of the open road. Whether hauling crude oil across long stretches of highway or navigating familiar local routes, he took pride in every safe mile he travelled. Providing for his family was not just a responsibility to him; it was his purpose, and he carried it out with quiet honor.

Away from work, Randy found peace anywhere near the water. Fishing wasn’t simply a pastime—it was a part of who he was. His carefully tended tackle boxes, his collection of rods, and his endless assortment of lures were each tied to a story worth retelling. His excitement at being surprised with his first boat after many years of fishing from the shore was only topped when he got to purchase his brand spanking new 2007 Bayliner.

Randy also found joy in the simple beauty of the world around him. From his living room window, he loved watching the wildlife that visited the feeder he kept full of food year-round. All the little birds and squirrels that visited the feeder daily brought him endless hours of amusement.

Whether driving or traveling with family he delighted in pointing out animals along the roadside or those gathered around the shores of his favourite lakes. His love for animals extended to his dogs, whom he adored and spoiled without hesitation. Their companionship brought him comfort, laughter, and countless cherished moments.

His humour was legendary. Goofy, mischievous, and unapologetically himself, Randy had a remarkable ability to turn ordinary moments into cherished memories. Family photos often capture him in a silly hat, sticking out his tongue, or—true to form—flipping the camera his middle finger. It was never disrespect; it was pure Randy: playful, warm, and impossible not to love.

Above all, Randy’s world revolved around his family. He was a steadfast loving husband, a supportive and caring father, and a doting grandfather known affectionately as Bumpa to all his grandchildren. His family was his anchor, his joy, and his greatest pride.

Randy leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and countless stories that will be shared for generations.

May he rest peacefully, with calm waters and a full tackle box.

Randy is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Denise Nunn; Daughter Stefani (David) Stephens of Lloydminster with their children Madilyn and Wyatt; Daughter Jennifer (Conrad) Madej of Lloydminster with their children Danika, Miles and Rian; Daughter Amanda (Greg) Barker of Alberta and their children Alex, Ross and Ryan; Siblings, Brenda (David) Frith of Rocky Mountain House and David (Trish) Nunn of Breton. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him deeply.

Randy was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Vivian Nunn; Grandparents, George and Helen Nunn; Brother, Wayne Nunn; Sister-in-law Tina Wog; Nephews Kyle Langille and Levi Frith.

Today, we pause to honour and remember all those who have bravely served our country to protect our freedoms.

To the members and Veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces; We thank you for your courage, dedication, and sacrifice in keeping us safe and upholding the values we cherish as Canadians.

At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, the First World War came to an end. Each year on this day, we take a moment of silence to reflect and remember those who gave their lives, as well as those who endured time away from their families in service to our nation.

Please wear your poppy today in remembrance. To learn more about ways to support Veterans and their families, visit your local Canadian Legion.

Lest we forget.
