Today, we honour the life and legacy of Louis Riel, a visionary onīkānēw (leader), father of the Métis Nation, and the first Premier of Manitoba.

Louis Riel led resistance movements to defend Métis rights, lands, and way of life at a time when those rights were being ignored and denied. His leadership played a central role in the creation of Manitoba and affirmed the Métis as a distinct, rights-bearing Nation within Canada.

Though his life was marked by immense pressure, opposition, and injustice, his vision for the Métis Nation, rooted in self-determination, dignity, and recognition, continues to guide and inspire Métis citizens and governments today.

On Louis Riel Day, we reflect on his legacy and honour the strength, resilience, and enduring spirit of the Métis Nation.

I am working on my thesis today.

This gift of research and knowledge gathering is both humbling and life giving. I am grateful for the opportunity to push into places that are so important for myself and Métis women, along with our communities.

I love sandtray, it helps me process complex thoughts and emotions gently, find solutions creatively and express what’s going on in my inner world without judgement, but with a sense of kindness, curiosity and safety.

I’m not taking any new clients right now; but I want to encourage you to find gentle and creative ways to deal with the complexity and stress you may be facing. For me that includes sandtray.

UPDATES: Not accepting new clients & My latest painting. 🖼️

Here is an upcycled art project I created from the office in Onion Lake Cree Nation, where I am currently employed FT by OLHBI.

I am also pursuing a Master of Indigenous Social Work through UVIC, where I have successfully completed my first year.

SO… 🧐I wanted you to know that I will not be taking any private practice clients during this time.

It is sad to take a break, but you can trust that when I return I will bring with me more gifts to share with this beautiful community!!
