GET YOUR CHICKEN!!!!

Alright, now that I have your attention. Meal prepping doesn’t have to mean you need to have everything cooked and ready to grab. Sometimes that’s not ideal or sometimes it’s overwhelming. I like to “meal prep” by pre marinating some protein and placing it in the freezer. That way I can see what I have and it’s easy to take out and pair with whatever side I see fit or plan some meals for the week.

Today I prepped some lemon basil chicken thighs and some Asian inspired chicken thighs for the freezer for easy access to maybe pair with some pasta or rice for one evening this week or next.

Real talk

I didn’t want to workout this morning. Time change, parenting, Monday, anything and everything I could think of COULD be an excuse.

Now I know some days when our bodies are tired and run down we do need to listen to this “voice”, but the voice I’m hearing today is trying to think of an excuse not to workout.

The fact is I know if I “force” myself to workout today, I will feel better. I will feel better mentally, physically and I will make better choices food wise.

Maybe it’s just a walk, sometimes it turns into a good sweat session and I feel accomplished. Whatever the workout may be, you showed up! It’s one step closer to a goal, whatever that goal may be.

You. Never. Regret. A. Workout

So come on, get changed and do this!

Friday morning lower body workout!

Quick and effective- just the way I like them.

3 rounds

1. Weighted squats- 15

2. Explosive step ups- 15 per leg (if you want a burn don’t alternate legs, 15 on one side and 15 on the other)

3. Ground to press- 15

4. Alternating weighted reverse lunges- 12 per side

5. 2 mins cardio (treadmill, row, skip, mini toe taps, jumping jacks etc)

Rest as needed between rounds or try for 1:30-2:00 minute rest between rounds for an intense one

On tonight’s menu: Greek Turkey burgers!

Kinda used a recipe but kinda made it up as I went. I was looking for something different to try.

Ingredients

1 package Lean ground Turkey
Dash of dill
Dash garlic powder
Dash onion powder
Dash oregano
Handful of cut up fresh spinach
Splash of fat free Greek salad dressing
2 ish tablespoons of feta
2 ish tablespoons of panko

***Another ingredient you could add is chopped olives**

Combine ingredients and bake in oven on parchment paper until done.

I served it over some Greek salad with a side of sweet potatoes, but it would also be good with rice.

Let me tell you something

Just because you’re not seeing the numbers on the scale decrease, the inches on the tape measure decrease DOES NOT mean what you are doing isn’t working.

Yeah sure you maybe had an extra drink here and there, went out for a friends birthday, had some cake etc.

You still showed up every day that week for yourself. You put the time in for a workout, but you also had some time to decompress and enjoy yourself.

This does not mean, stop- give up, throw in the towel! It means get back up and keep going.

It’s a marathon, not a damn sprint!

What you might not see is your conditioning has improved immensely, your pace has increased, your are able to complete more reps, or rounds. Think big picture.

The road to wellness….. what is it and how does one do it exactly??

We’re all busy, living, dealing, hustling, learning and being our best. Somedays it seems so hard to just be a decent person, we can’t always be boasting motivation for others and keeping our tribe on the straight and narrow. Sometimes we just wanna melt into ourselves and be still.

Having something you can tune into, to keep you grounded is REALLY REALLY important. Not everything in your life has to be linked perfectly.

For me that would be fitness and baking…. What? Your a personal trainer and nutritionist AND you bake???

YES! Yes I do and I 💜 it

My thing is baking, baking pretty things for people. Things that taste good and hopefully look just as appealing. Baking eases my worries and keeps my mind positive. It grounds me again.

We are constantly changing and growing, who you were 10 years ago might not be who you are today and that’s okay! What worked for you then might not work now.

It’s important to find something that makes you happy. So when you have a moment of anxiety or stress, you can do something to help you cope and manage. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy, it can be as simple as soaking your feet in a tub of warm water, sipping tea by the window or even….. making a cake 💜

Happy Valentine’s Day!! 💕

With it being Valentine’s Day today I thought of a fun workout to share inspired by today!

Between each movement there will be 1 minute cardio (run, rowing, jumping jacks etc) and each movement will be 14 reps

Ex: 14 squat to press followed by 1 minute cardio followed by 14 burpees followed by 1 minute cardio

Squat to press
Burpees
Sit up
Weighted reverse lunge (7 per side)
Bent over row
Step ups or box jumps
Push ups
