People think being a therapist is hard because you sit in the heaviness all day. And yes, there are hard moments.
But what stays with me are the wins. The quiet ones, the complicated ones, the ones people don’t always realize are wins yet. Watching someone set a boundary for the first time. Hearing “I’m proud of myself” and knowing how much it took to get there. Even something like “I fed myself and showered today” carries so much more weight than people understand.
That’s the part that makes this work feel worth it; getting to witness people come back to themselves, over and over again.
