Some people spend their Sundays taking it easy… and some lace up their shoes and hit the trails.

This past weekend, our incredible “Muskoka Landing Trekkers” took part in Hike for at Limberlost Reserve.

Spring might still be making up its mind… but we’re not waiting to get growing.

The Leacock crew has been busy getting their hands dirty, lovingly tending to seedlings, dreaming up this season’s garden, and soaking in plenty of inspiration along the way.

A BIG thank you to the Sullivan Family for the generous donation of raised garden beds (we’re very ready to rise to the occasion), and to Bradford Greenhouses Garden Gallery for fueling our field trip with fresh ideas and a little extra excitement for what’s ahead.

Around here, spring isn’t just a season… It’s a mindset. And this group? They’re already in full bloom!

We love a good surprise… especially when it’s for someone who truly deserves it.

Resident Attendant Gertrude has been part of the Waterside Retirement Lodge family since day one. Through every chapter, including the most challenging ones during the pandemic, she’s been a constant source of care, connection, and kindness.

So when she retired, there was no way we were letting her slip out quietly.

Residents and staff came together to celebrate someone who has given so much, not only within the Lodge, but throughout the Wasaga Beach community through her many volunteer and advocacy roles.

Thank you, Gertrude, for everything you’ve brought to Waterside. You will forever be part of our family, and we wish you joy, good health, and endless possibilities in this next season of life!

Story time at Muskoka Landing Retirement Lodge is pretty special if you ask us!

Our residents recently spent quality time reading with children from the neighbouring daycare, and the joy in the room was felt by all in attendance. Intergenerational programming is something we strive to bring to life at all of our Retirement Lodges across Ontario, including right here in Huntsville. We truly believe these moments matter. They create connections, spark curiosity, and remind us of how much we can learn from one another, no matter our age.

There’s a long-standing belief that retirement living is something you turn to only when you have to.

And for some, it does begin that way.

But for many others, the decision happens earlier, in a quieter moment. When the day-to-day starts to feel heavier than it once did. When maintaining a home takes more energy. When the idea of a little more support, connection, and ease starts to feel not just helpful, but appealing.

What’s important to remember is that there’s no one path.

What a weekend for the Leacock Retirement Lodge team!

You may have spotted them at the Spring Home and Cottage Show, where they’ve been enjoying the opportunity to meet new faces, share stories, and connect with community members in meaningful ways.

That same spirit of connection carried into Saturday evening, when they attended the Business Excellence Awards Gala and were honoured with the Community Impact and Humanitarian Award!

This recognition reflects the entire Leacock team. The people who show up each day with care, compassion, and a genuine commitment to making a difference, both within the Lodge and throughout the community.

A little fresh air, a little teamwork, and a shared sense of pride in the place we call home.

This Earth Day, residents at Muskoka Landing Retirement Lodge opted to roll up their sleeves for a bit of spring clean-up, caring for the beautiful surroundings they enjoy every day on the shores of Fairy Lake.
