Homeschooling isn’t about rigid schedules, it’s about finding your rhythm... Your flow...

I tried following a fixed schedule and it was horrible. I was stressed. I felt like a failure when I couldn't get everything done. And even worst, I was rushing my children when they would take "too long" for a subject.

Then I started letting go of the strict timelines and embracing a flow that works for us. It brought so much peace to our day.

Are you the type that needs a fixed schedule, do you go with the flow or are you somewhere in between?

Maya Angelou said "You can't really know where you are going until you know where you have been.” That's exactly what I'm trying to do with this process.

Comment "JOURNAL" if you want to enjoy a trip down memory lane while setting up your upcoming week for success.

Knowing what worked and what didn't work in the past helps me adjust my homeschool week so much. But then it also gives mea moment to enjoy a special moment that I may have forgotten about.

✨ Homeschooling doesn’t have to feel like juggling flaming swords (while someone asks for a snack every 5 minutes).

Here are 3 ways that we keep it simple and stress less:

đź’ˇ Learn with your child. I don't know all of the answers and you won't either. Part of the fun is learning with them.

⏰ Ditch the strict schedule. Flexibility is going to be your secret weapon. I rather have a routine in place VS having a set schedule.

🎯 Remember: it’s not “school at home.” It’s learning your way. You don't need a fancy homeschool room, you don't know to sit up straight to write and you def don't need to raise your hands to speak. Get comfortable in your yoga pants and lay on the couch while you learn about fractions.

Today was a tough homeschool day for Neyama.

But I like to take these moments and have discussions with her and try to find a lesson in the situation.

So I'm wondering, what do you do when your children hit a wall? Do you push it aside? Do you talk about it? I would love to know how you handle these situations.

If your child is having a hard time reading, it might be because they're focusing on sight words VS phonetic sounds.

Sight words can feel like they're working off of memory. But learning phonics first will help them break down any word into sounds.

This will help to build a strong foundation for your children and give them confidence in their reading skills.

Did you notice anything like this with your child?

It's ok to pivot and it's ok push the curriculum to the side and improvise.

Fxibility is your best friend when it comes to homeschooling.

Some days I feel unstoppable. Other days… I stop. Catch my breath. And keep going.

Because they’re ALWAYS watching. 👀

And I want them to know, it’s okay to struggle, but it’s not okay to give up.

Pssst... Little inside scoop... Anyone that knows me, knows that I can't stand cardio. Weights are my thing. But, I'm challenging myself especially being in a house with track athletes. I need to get this excess weight off and the struggle is real this time around! But I got this!

If you’re stuck dealing with unfocused mornings, constant snack battles, or feeling like everyone’s running on empty by 2pm… I get it. I used to feel the same way. It was like I was constantly trying to get them to focus instead of actually enjoying our homeschool days.

Once I started weaving in simple wellness habits like a quick dance break, better snack options, and mindful moments, things got way more peaceful. I actually started to see my children enjoy learning and have the energy to finish strong, instead of hitting a wall halfway through.

If you’re over trying the same old stuff and getting nowhere, drop WF in the comments. I’ll send you my free Wellness Foundations Audio Series to help your children thrive without overhauling your whole routine.

And tag a fellow homeschool mom who could use a little more calm and connection in her day!

Unpopular opinion: You don’t need to schedule every minute of your homeschool day to make it successful. Flexibility is key!

I know it’s not what everyone’s saying, but honestly? The advice that lots of people are following is exactly why they’re stuck.

When I stopped trying to cram every second into a schedule and started focusing on creating a flexible flow, everything shifted. I felt more relaxed, less stressed, and finally like we were making actual progress.

That’s why I’m so big on keeping things simple and doable. No extremes. No burnout. Just stuff that works.

And if you’re ready to reflect and bring more ease to your homeschool routine, comment JOURNAL and I’ll send you the link to access to the Homeschool Weekly Reflection Journal!

And seriously… save this post. You’ll want to come back to it.

It’s truly insane what can happen in 5 years.

Five years ago, life looked so different. Timmy was about to move to Calgary while I stay back for Trey to finish his school year. I was doing so good with my food and my workouts. We were living paycheck to paycheck but still trying to eat healthy. That was a balancing act on its own.

Now? Things have changed in ways I never expected. We moved to Calgary and back to Montreal. We're not living paycheck to paycheck anymore but still trying to eat healthy thanks to these crazy grocery prices. Still enjoying my Netflix moments where I pretend to be a detective 🤔. The biggest change of all.... We're homeschooling both children now.

It’s wild to think about how much can happen in five years. But I'm so happy with the changes. It's lead me to find a community of awesome mamas that homeschool their children too.

What’s something that’s totally different for you since 2020? Let me know 👇🏾

P. S. What show should I add to my Netflix list?
