Hello everyone!

While I continue to develop my yoga practice, I have decided to launch a combination of my two passions: Communications & Philanthropy!

If you work in or are considering to launch a nonprofit organization, follow my page, I will be publishing advice, tools and great reads!

Namaste.

As long as I can remember, I have been fighting for some cause or another. Be it for animal rights, the environment, social justice or healthy food systems, I was always defending a belief in a better world.

However, the constant fighting for and defending of causes left me drained, heavily anxious and feeling isolated. I put all of my energy into trying to "save" the world, neglecting the most important thing in it: myself.

You cannot just throw yourself into bringing about change to the external world if you do not start with the inner world. The same goes for philanthropic organizations, how can we bring about change if we ourselves are not changing?

Through my many years of experience working in the philanthropic sector, I have developed a holistic, three-pronged approach to guide organizations in reaching their goals. For change and growth to happen we must enact change on three levels:

1 - As individuals
2 - As a team through our interpersonal relationships
3 - As an organization through large-scale impact

Are you ready to bring about change?

I've been away for a while...

This winter has been a great opportunity for me to hunker down and refocus on what is really important: self-care and self-love. 💆

This is a picture from one of my last outdoor photoshoots before we shut down the gym and I lost my motivation to work on Hakuna MaPrana at all. The fresh air, the hike up the mountain.. it felt so good to connect with it all.

Near the end, I got caught up in doing yoga more for my business and for social media more than for my own wellbeing. I started neglecting my own practice and in the end... myself.

Has this ever happened to you, getting lost in the business of something you love?

👇Let me know I'd love to hear your stories!

Life is short, and is meant to be experienced to the fullest.

Don't take life TOO seriously!

It took me a while before choosing to get certified as a yoga teacher because I thought I wasn't good enough, not flexible enough, not 'yogi' enough...

Then I realized, I am exactly where I need to be at this very moment in my yoga journey! My playful approach might be exactly what some people need to delve into their own practice, so let's do it!

"The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty" - Winston Churchill

The -19 pandemic has drastically altered our current reality and has impacted so many dimensions of our lives.

At first, I was lost. I lost one of my jobs, and didn't know if I would be able to continue paying the bills. I missed my friends, my routine, my stability. Why did it all have to change?

Once I stopped seeing the pandemic as a difficulty and more as an opportunity, everything changed. I turned my gaze away from the incessant flow of anxiety-laced media and shifted it inwards instead.

How could I transform this into a blessing, into a gift?

Amongst many other things, this self-reflection process brought me to the decision to become a certified yoga instructor and help other people connect with themselves as well as with their kids!

Hakuna MaPrana was born, inspired of course by the infamous song:

🎶 It means no worries for the rest of your days,
It's our problem-free philosophy,
Hakuna Matata! 🎶

All the answers are within you, you just need to go find them!

This past winter was a challenging time for everyone. The world shut down, seeming to fold in on itself. The streets were empty, businesses shut their doors, and held our breath as a collective.

My initial reaction was one of shock. I lost one of my two jobs, causing some initial panic. I then found myself homebound like everyone else. The social butterfly, workaholic that I am begged for any form of interaction that did not involve a screen.

I cried. I screamed.
I was anxious. I was angry.
I was scared. I was worried.

Then I realized I had an incredible opportunity in front of me. For the first time in years, I had free time. FREE TIME. I could actually do the things I kept on putting off. I finally had the time to work on myself, something too many people neglect to do.

I wiped away the tears, pulled on my big girl pants and took control of myself.

I started exercising every day.
I took my yoga practice more seriously.
I took a more active role in my stepson's education and began home schooling him.
I researched ways to be self-sufficient, both emotionally and financially.

This is how Hakuna MaPrana came to be.

Whenever we are faced with difficult situations, we always have the choice of how we want to face them: as roadblocks, or as opportunities.

Your smile will shine brightest after a moment of sadness 😊

So, what do you choose, Pessimist or Optimist?

Be creative, be silly, and allow yourself to fail.

Yoga on a mat is great and all... but why limit yourself? I wanted to do some fun poses with this giant tire we got for our private gym Lex Lacefield - Human Potential Catalyst.

What I hadn't counted on doing was STANDING on the tire.

I was scared. Scared of falling off, scared of failing and of looking stupid. This was supposed to be fun, not hard. I am glad my partner and coach, Lex, didn't listen to my fearful protests and pushed me to surpass my fear.

Once I stood on that tire, and he let it go, my heart was pounding, but I held the pose and pushed on. Once the picture was taken, I cried, out of relief, of surprise and then, out of pride.

When I started practicing yoga, I felt awkward and ridiculous. I wasn't flexible or strong, and I had a hard time maintaining the poses. My fear and self-consciousness kept me from practicing on a regular basis.

It is only when I stopped taking everything so seriously and let go that I started truly enjoying my yoga practice. I let myself play and look silly, accepting that I didn't need to be perfect, that I was allowed to fail.

Do you want to connect to your own inner child and learn to be silly again? Hakuna MaPrana can help you! Join me at one of my upcoming classes and LET GO!

Namaste.

Monkey see, Monkey Do.

Children look up to their parents for guidance on how to act how to speak, how to BE. Our role is basically to teach them what it is to be human.

Do we even know what being a human is? Yoga and meditation have helped me see past the many layers of my 'identity' and discover my true self was. This has helped me connect with myself, but also with this child I have the chance to be raising.

As I continue to grow alongside this little human, I realized that, although I am not his biological parent, Kade has started to pick up some of my habits. He now wants his own yoga channel 😍

I caught him filming his own yoga sequence, ending with his favorite: Namaste, and his very own affirmation:

"Be kind and helpful"

Be more like the person you want your child to become. I could not be more proud.
