School start is around the corner! Here are 3 of my favourite back to school tips:
1. Prepare your child for the transition by adding more structure to your routine a week prior to school start. Use visual supports like visual schedules or calendars.
2. Start to set an earlier bedtime a week before school starts. Adequate sleep supports learning and helps to prevent problem behaviours.
3. Discuss with your child what to expect, what their day might look like; include things that they can look forward to such as which friends they will see again after the summer, etc. Be enthusiastic and keep it really positive!
