MEET CHAMPA!
Champa is back to help out around the studio, don't miss your chance to come practice with her. Today at 12:15 and Monday at 5:30
A graduate of Ashtanga Yoga Montreal in 2014 Champa Cyr teaches yoga and meditation. In 2000 she graduated from Concordia University in contemporary dance and devoted herself professionally for more than 15 years. She was always curious in this search for balance between the body and the mind, especially in the centrality of breathing. She obtained her first yoga certification in Ashtanga yoga at AYM. She then became certified in prenatal yoga with Mélanie Chevarie, and Mom and Baby yoga with Jayme Hernandez. In 2017, she obtained qualifications in restorative yoga and yin yoga from Marie-Daphnée Roy. In 2019, she expanded her skills by learning therapeutic yoga techniques for lower back health, pelvic floor, digestive issues, and stress and anxiety. Also, from Marie-Daphné Roy and Hélène Doucet-Beaupré. Her total training hours are 600 hours.
She works as a trauma-informed yoga instructor at Santova’s Foundation, serving clients such as the DPJ and Batshaw Youth Centre.
In addition to teaching yoga, Champa practices Vipassana meditation and Mindfulness meditation. She meditates daily and attends 10-day Vipassana retreats regularly. She is currently completing (2025–2027) intensive mindfulness teacher training with MMTCP (Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield). Once she completes her studies, she plans to facilitate meditation sessions and lead retreats.
Champa Cyr, with a look of compassion, considers each student unique. She encourages them to practice regularly, and teaches them that yoga goes beyond the mat, as it cultivates compassion and mindfulness in everyday life. In her private or group classes, she guides her students to listen to their bodies, reconnect with themselves and cultivate resilience and compassion towards themselves and others.
