MEET CHAMPA!
Champa is back to help out around the studio, don't miss your chance to come practice with her. Today at 12:15 and Monday at 5:30
A graduate of Ashtanga Yoga Montreal in 2014 Champa Cyr teaches yoga and meditation. In 2000 she graduated from Concordia University in contemporary dance and devoted herself professionally for more than 15 years. She was always curious in this search for balance between the body and the mind, especially in the centrality of breathing. She obtained her first yoga certification in Ashtanga yoga at AYM. She then became certified in prenatal yoga with Mélanie Chevarie, and Mom and Baby yoga with Jayme Hernandez. In 2017, she obtained qualifications in restorative yoga and yin yoga from Marie-Daphnée Roy. In 2019, she expanded her skills by learning therapeutic yoga techniques for lower back health, pelvic floor, digestive issues, and stress and anxiety. Also, from Marie-Daphné Roy and Hélène Doucet-Beaupré. Her total training hours are 600 hours.
She works as a trauma-informed yoga instructor at Santova’s Foundation, serving clients such as the DPJ and Batshaw Youth Centre.
In addition to teaching yoga, Champa practices Vipassana meditation and Mindfulness meditation. She meditates daily and attends 10-day Vipassana retreats regularly. She is currently completing (2025–2027) intensive mindfulness teacher training with MMTCP (Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield). Once she completes her studies, she plans to facilitate meditation sessions and lead retreats.
Champa Cyr, with a look of compassion, considers each student unique. She encourages them to practice regularly, and teaches them that yoga goes beyond the mat, as it cultivates compassion and mindfulness in everyday life. In her private or group classes, she guides her students to listen to their bodies, reconnect with themselves and cultivate resilience and compassion towards themselves and others.

Stepping in for Aly today come in and practice with Jessika!

Jessika's yoga journey is a beautiful fusion of movement and mindfulness. It all began with a discovery movement—the joy of mastering control over her body weight, relishing the precise, fluid artistry of creative motion. She firmly believes that cultivating physical, mental, and emotional resilience is the secret sauce to navigating life's ebbs and flows with grace.
Certified in multiple disciplines including 200h Power Yoga, 100h Yin Yang, 200h Meditation training, and 100h Women’s Circle facilitation, Jessika's expertise spans a spectrum of yoga modalities. Yet, beyond certifications, it's the profound teachings of yoga philosophy that have been her steadfast companions on a healing odyssey—nurturing her physical and mental well-being.
Inversions hold a special place in Jessika's heart, symbolizing the beautiful balance between effort and surrender. She sees them as metaphors for life—wherein facing challenges, finding stability, and eventually soaring high become intertwined lessons on and off the mat. Jessika's sessions are carefully curated to empower you not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. She crafts strength-based classes that challenge and uplift, inviting you to discover your inner power.

MEET VAL!
Val will be taking care of the Restorative classes ( along with a few others) while Jeanne is away.
Welcome to the team Valerie Cordemans
Valerie came to yoga in 2000 when her osteopath suggested she try
yoga to help her scoliosis. Jeanne was her first teacher :).
Over the years, Valerie has continued to explore different practices,
including Ashtanga for many years.
In 2012, Valerie started her Hatha teacher training at Naada Yoga in
Montreal with some renowned teachers and furthered her training in
Yoga for Scoliosis (Elise Miller), Restorative Yoga (Judith Lasater) and
Yoga for Kids and Teens (Sivananda).
She has over 1000hrs in yoga and meditation training.
She encourages her students to feel good in their body as they
practice and to let the pose adjust itself to the body instead of forcing
the body into the pose. Eventually both will connect.

She also holds a life coaching certification from Concordia University
and incorporates her coaching into her yoga teachings (and vice versa)
Yoga is not just on your mat, it is a way of life.

This week and next we welcome back Anastasia Friedman to the studio.
She will be subbing the 6 pm active practice.
We are so happy to have her back, be sure to come in and show her some ❤
A passionate teacher since 2013, Anastasia is based in Montreal, where she collaborates with several studios in the city and works in the corporate sector.
Her journey began when, after five years of practicing Bikram and Moksha yoga, she decided to put her first career as a musician on hold to devote herself entirely to yoga. Her training led her to travel the world to study with the best teachers. First to London, to meet Luiz Veiga, a renowned Ashtanga master. Then to Mexico, to earn her first 200-hour certification in Ashtanga, Hatha, and Vinyasa flow under the guidance of Olivia Martinez, a teacher trained by Sharath Jois. Finally, she went to India to deepen her practice of Ashtanga with Jay Prakash and to take a course in human anatomy with Noah McKenna, two iconic figures in their respective disciplines.
Anastasia then had her first teaching experience at a yoga center in Casablanca, Morocco, where she taught Yin Yoga, Hatha flow, Ashtanga, and Yoga Nidra for a year. She also organized her first themed retreats combining practice and adventure.
Back in Quebec, she now divides her time between teaching and her own practice (Mysore). Convinced of the importance of continually deepening her teaching approach and opening herself up to new disciplines, she continues to attend workshops regularly and now has over 400 hours of certified training.

Tadasana, or mountain pose, is the foundation for our asana practice.
Proper structural alignment allows us to find a sense of grounding while exploring full access to our breath. Find a strong Tadasana and we will carry that sense of strength and balance throughout practice.
We will look at how Tadasana shows up over and over again through practice.

Also available online.
