One of the destinations we are going to visit during our trip in November! 🏝️✨💗

Kīlauea is erupting! Episode kanakolu kūmākahi (31) has started. USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reports that the eruption began at 2:04 p.m. today, Friday, August 22.

Lava fountains from the north vent are about 325 feet high and coming out at a 45-degree angle. If the fountains were straight up, it would be 500+ feet.

Here’s what park rangers need you to know:

😵‍💫Expect the park to be extremely busy with stop-and-go traffic near the entrance and on Highway 11 once the word gets out.

🛑SLOW down. Heed all posted signs and listen to rangers and traffic control workers.

🏠First-timers or “it’s-been-awhilers” should make the Welcome Center their first stop.

🚙Park in designated areas only. Do not block emergency access or traffic lanes. You will get towed.

🖐️Stay AWAY from cliff edges and keep keiki (children) close!

🚶‍♀️Pedestrians: pay attention to traffic and use sidewalks and crosswalks.

👀Look out for nēnē (native geese) on roads, roadsides and parking lots. Never feed nēnē and give them space.

🌋Be safe and stay out of closed areas. Great overlooks of Kaluapele (Kīlauea caldera) are open at Uēkahuna, along Crater Rim Trail and old Crater Rim Drive.

💦 Be prepared! Bring water. Due to construction, bottle filling stations are unavailable.

💌Be ahonui (patient) and bring your aloha.

This is what you will see on top of Manua Kea. This is a trip that one should do in their life. The view is so different from what you have ever seen , so raw and so out of this world- that you start questioning if this is truly natural. There is 20 % less air, every movement feels like a HIT workout, and your heart is beating 130 beats per minute.
Manua Kea - a very special place for Hawaiians. Hawaiians respect their land like no other nation I have ever seen. You can feel it.

In Hawaii I learned one very useful thing: You learn to enjoy every minute of your day!

Hawaii is called a rainbow state- because of the amount of rainbows you can witness during a day:) In a perfect summer weather all year arround you can be certain of 1 thing: It is raining on Hawaii somewhere:) Up in the mountains, in the valley, north side, south side...

If you plan a trip to Hawaii , be prepared : bring an umbrella- or embrace the rain:) I learned to do later. I love hawaiian rain- it is refreshing, so needed for the nature and creates the most amazing rainbows. When surfing - rain is not an issue at all : at the end of the day , what difference does it make if you are wet from the swimming or from the rain:)

and Ladies , who like taking photos- the most gorgeous and sincere pictures come out in the rain!
