I want to share an important update I received from the Canadian Reiki Association. Over the years, many teachers have begun creating their own “modalities,” adding new names, extra levels, and confusing structures. This has made it increasingly difficult for the CRA to recognize new applicants, and it’s becoming clear that many of these new systems are simply money grabs rather than authentic Reiki teachings.
As a proud CRA member for the past 13 years, I was asked—along with other members—to provide feedback. I completely agree with their concerns. It is essential to know who your teacher or practitioner is and to ensure they are properly trained within the traditional Usui lineage.
Authentic Reiki attunements must be received in person, not online.
And despite what some teachers are now promoting, there are not higher levels such as “Reiki Level 9.” Grand master ! The grand master was and is master Usui. These are not recognized, not valid, and not part of the true Reiki system.
There are only three levels in the original Usui Reiki tradition.
In the Usui Holy Fire system, the Master/Teacher level is divided into two parts, creating four levels, but these remain within the recognized lineage.
Anything beyond these established levels is not legitimate Reiki — it is misleading and considered a hoax.
It’s more important than ever to stay informed, stay grounded in the authentic lineage, and seek teachers who uphold the true essence of Reiki.
