We’re thrilled to welcome Brogan to the Juniper team!

Brogan’s arrival marks a meaningful expansion into couples therapy, and we feel so fortunate to have her warmth, insight, and expertise on board.

Brogan believes that while all couples face challenges, these moments can become powerful turning points, opportunities to grow closer, understand each other more deeply, and build a stronger foundation. She supports couples of all ages and backgrounds through a wide range of issues including mental health, neurodiversity, s*x and intimacy, infidelity, conflict resolution, and big life transitions like marriage and parenthood.

Her approach is evidence-based, experiential, trauma-informed, and rooted in attachment theory. Brogan is trained in both Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and The Gottman Method, two of the most respected models in couples work.

We’re so excited for the depth and care she brings to Juniper—and for the healing and connection she’ll help foster in the lives of the couples she works with.

Mental Health Tip:

When hard thoughts or feelings show up, our first instinct is usually to fight them:

“I need this to stop.”
“I shouldn’t feel this way.”
“I have to fix this.”

But what if... you didn’t fight?

What if you just noticed:
👉 “Ah, there’s my anxiety.”
👉 “There’s that fear again.”

You don’t have to solve it right now.
You don’t have to wrestle with it.

Just notice it.
Let go of the tug-of-war rope.

And take the next step in the direction that matters to you.

❤️ That’s how we drop the struggle.

📣 We’re Moving! A New Chapter Begins at Juniper 🏡

We’re excited to share that, as of August 4, 2025, Juniper Counselling Centre will be moving—just across the street—to our new home at:

📍 160C Terence Matthews Crescent

This isn’t just a change of address. It’s a milestone.
Our new space will be Juniper’s forever home—a place we own and have intentionally chosen to grow in. It’s a long-term foundation rooted in care, community, and the values that guide everything we do.

What’s new?

🌿 Ground-floor accessibility
🌿 Two private washrooms
🌿 More natural light
🌿 Larger, more comfortable offices
🌿 Eight dedicated parking spots

Most importantly, it will continue to be a space for healing, reflection, and deep human connection.

We’ve witnessed so much courage in our current space—moments of growth, vulnerability, and transformation. We carry all of that with us into this next chapter.

🗓 Transition details:

Our current centre will be closed for in-person sessions from July 30 to August 1, but therapists will be offering virtual sessions during this time to support continuity of care. Until then, it will be business as usual.

We can’t wait to welcome you into our new space on August 4. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us.

With warmth and gratitude,

Jenny Thake & Kristen Marsh
Co-Founders, Juniper Counselling Centre

We don’t talk about it enough: men need therapy, too.

For generations, men have been socialized to “be strong,” to suppress emotion, and to carry pain in silence. Many have learned—explicitly or implicitly—that vulnerability is weakness, that asking for help is a failure, and that their emotional worlds are less valid or important.

But the truth is, strength includes self-awareness. Resilience grows from knowing how to process pain, express grief, and navigate fear. And therapy is one of the few spaces where men can begin to explore what’s underneath the surface—without judgment, pressure, or expectations to “fix” or “figure it out” right away.
Making therapy accessible to men isn’t just about logistics—it’s about cultural change.

It means:
- Creating spaces where men feel safe showing up exactly as they are
- Validating the full emotional range that every human carries
- Challenging outdated norms about masculinity and mental health
- Recognizing that depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief don’t discriminate by gender

Whether it’s processing stress, navigating fatherhood, healing from loss, or simply wanting to know yourself more deeply—therapy can be a place of strength, healing, and growth.

Let’s keep building a world where men are encouraged, not discouraged, to seek support. Because mental health belongs to all of us.

We’re Hiring in Manotick!

Juniper is looking for a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Social Worker to join our growing team.

We’re a group of thoughtful, human-centered clinicians who bring genuine care to our work—with clients and with each other. At Juniper, we approach mental health with a relational lens—grounded in compassion, curiosity, and respect for each person’s lived experience. We believe in care that’s collaborative, trauma-informed, and rooted in the belief that people heal in connection.

We’re proud to offer a workplace where clinicians feel supported, encouraged, and part of something meaningful. We believe good therapy is supported by thoughtful consultation, and a strong sense of team.

If this resonates with you, we’d love to hear from you. Please find the application link in our bio.

There’s a quiet strength in choosing to respond instead of react. Reactions are impulsive, unconscious, and are often ego-driven. Our ability to respond comes from clarity, intention, and self-awareness. Growth lives in that space between stimulus and action — in the pause where we decide who we want to be.

The power of response lies in creating space for growth and understanding. What will you choose today?🌿
