Let’s be real: teaching during a heat wave feels like running a marathon inside a toaster.

Between sticky chairs and overheated children (and educators), we need all the tricks to stay cool—physically and emotionally.

Here are 5 tried-and-true (and slightly ridiculous) ways I’m surviving the school heatwave:

☀️Keep the room dark like you’re protecting bat skin.
☀️Elevate your water game with lemon + a pinch of salt.
☀️Thermos full of ice = sanity in a cup.
☀️Fans: mechanical or student-made—yes to both.
☀️Reward yourself with a spa-level cold shower when you get home.

Summer break is almost here… but until then, we’re fighting for our lives under fluorescent lights and sticky bulletin boards.

What’s this educator up to now…?

Hint: It involves a microwave, a mountain of kernels, and a whole lotta love for a bunch of excited kiddos.

Take your best guess below ⬇️

How many bags of popcorn do you think I’m making — and who is it all for?

Spoiler alert: I may never want to smell popcorn again after today.

Just when I thought we were done adding to the family…

Emma brings home a snail 🐌

She spotted this little guy and just had to bring him home in her lunch container — because that’s who she is.

Curious, gentle, and full of love for all creatures, big or small, even furry, slimy, or slow as molasses.

Her heart for animals melts mine every single time

I admire her big heart… even if it means housing a surprise guest with a portable shell.

What this educator is up to…?

Is it a snack? Is it science? Is it just me making a mess in the kitchen again?

Take your best guess!

(Hint: It’s squishy, sensory, and about to bring BIG smiles to some little hands!)

Drop your guess below ⬇️ and check back soon to see what we’re whipping up in the classroom this week!

From Report Cards to Running Wild (with Our Kiddos!)

Teachers, you’re in the final stretch! That weird time of year when you are still grading papers but mentally packing pool bags.

The school year’s been a lot, and summer isn’t exactly a break—it’s just a new role: full-time snack-passer, sunscreen-applier, activity-coordinator… basically CEO of the Chaos Crew.

This year, instead of crawling into summer burnt out, I’m doing something different:

I’m making small daily choices now that help me feel energized and actually excited to switch gears.

Here’s what I’ve been doing to get my spark back:
📝 Writing out the to do list
☀️ Morning walk outside before work
🥤 Swapping the sugar and caffeine rollercoaster for a fizzy boost that keeps me clear + focused
🍳 Prioritizing protein so my energy doesn’t crash mid-morning
🚰 Ensuring I am hydrated each day
📓 A simple gratitude check-in at night to remind myself: I’m doing enough. I am enough.

No complicated routines. Just small shifts with big results.

And spoiler alert: it’s working.

So if you’re feeling like your battery is flashing red—know you’re not alone. But you don’t have to wait for summer to feel better.

What’s one tiny thing you could start this week to boost your energy?
