CDA Member and certified dermatologist Dr. Elena Netchiporouk is featured in a recent study highlighting a promising new use for botulinum toxin (Botox) in treating severe finger ulcers and gangrene associated with autoimmune diseases.

“These new findings are particularly important because therapeutic options remain limited for the cutaneous and vascular manifestations of systemic sclerosis and other autoimmune diseases,” says Dr. Netchiporouk.

This work marks an important step forward in improving care for patients with complex vascular skin conditions.

In this recent article published by DERM.CITY, CDA Member & certified dermatologists Drs. Julia Carroll, Sonya Abdulla, and Geeta Yadav weigh in on the growing interest in topical estrogen for menopausal skin changes.

While some studies suggest improvements in skin thickness, hydration, and elasticity, dermatologists caution that the evidence remains limited and safety questions are still unresolved.

“These products are not approved for facial rejuvenation… results are modest at best,” Dr. Yadav notes, emphasizing that proven approaches like retinoids, antioxidants, and sun protection remain first-line.

On May 27-28, the Canadian Dermatology Association will take this message to Parliament Hill.

If you believe in equitable, timely access to dermatologic care, add your voice to Operation 5,000 Voices. Our goal is to collect 5,000 petition signatures calling for better access to dermatologic care.

Signing the petition takes only a moment, but it sends a clear message: ensuring that federal decision-makers not only hear but feel the urgency of improving access to dermatologic care.

Every signature helps send a stronger message.
