What’s up guys it’s Sara, peer supporter and Junior Communications Chair (aka I make these Instagram posts). I’m super excited to be joining the team. ⭐️LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY – PEER SUPPORT ROLES FOR 2025-2026 (All MD cohorts can apply)⭐️

Are you interested in helping your peers and making a difference in medical school? Be part of the Ryan Séguin Peer Support Team for the 2025-2026 academic year!

Our Philosophy:
Ryan Séguin Peer Support Program is a peer support program that complements current mental health services available for medical students at the faculty of medicine by building on the relationships between medical students and their expertise in understanding medical school challenges.

The goals are to improve medical student help seeking behaviours, reduce stigma and provide non-judgemental, accessible, and confidential peer support from students who have undergone training.

Application Process:
We are looking for MD students from any cohort. Please see the job description for more information (https://uottawa-my.sharepoint.com/personal/ishor016_uottawa_ca/_layouts/15/guestaccess.aspx?share=EVhtEm6Xr0lFlJUSnqmRsjYBkV9rgKLgm-1PJewrLMHHlg&e=8oxNRD).

To apply, please fill out the application form before October 13th at 11:59pm. We will communicate with selected candidates for an interview. Those dates will follow and will be determined according to students’ availabilities.

Mandatory Training:
Mandatory training sessions are on October 30 and November 2 online, and November 3 in-person (exact time TBD, around 6-8pm). All selected candidates must attend the training sessions; no exceptions will be made.

Notre philosophie:
Soutien par les pairs Ryan Séguin est un programme de soutien par les pairs (« peer support ») qui complémente les services de santé mentale présentement disponibles pour les étudiants de médecine de la faculté. Le programme est fondé sur les relations entre les étudiants et sur leur expertise à comprendre les défis auxquels ils sont confrontés.

Les buts sont d’encourager les étudiants à chercher de l’aide, de réduire la stigmatisation et d’obtenir un soutien accessible, confidentiel et sans jugement par des pairs ayant suivi une formation.
