📣🙌 We are pleased to welcome Quinn Bonnett to the REclaim Physiotherapy team.

His schedule is live on our website! Quinn will be working on Mondays from 7am-7pm. He has already filled up his first 4 weeks! His next available opening is Monday Dec 16th.

Quinn graduated with honours from the International Academy of Health Science in 2018, Quinn brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our clinic. With a passion for physically demanding activities and a deep understanding of musculoskeletal health, Quinn offers a tailored approach to massage therapy, designed to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Growing up in the interior of British Columbia, Quinn spent much of his time outdoors, engaging in activities such as rock climbing, amateur rodeo, and wrestling. This active lifestyle fostered a keen intuition for managing the physical challenges the body faces, particularly in the musculoskeletal system. Today, Quinn continues to stay physically engaged as a climbing arborist and manages a diversified farm, further deepening his connection to the demands placed on the body.

In treatment, Quinn takes the time to fully understand each client’s goals—whether that be alleviating a persistent discomfort or working toward an ambitious physical goal. With a focus on personalized care, Quinn is dedicated to helping you achieve improved movement, recovery, and overall well-being.

If you're ready to begin your healing journey or seek relief from physical discomfort, we invite you to book an appointment with Quinn today.

🎉 September-October Highlights at RECLAIM PHYSIOTHERAPY! 🎉

I’m thrilled to share that we welcomed 1,300 clients to our clinic in the last two months—that’s a 41% increase from last year’s Sept-Oct numbers! 🚀 I’ve been told starting a clinic was a big risk and that my “business skills” were lacking. While I can’t argue with that, I also can’t ignore these amazing numbers. As a new business owner, I’m learning every day, and I truly love the journey of entrepreneurship. After all, we grow through what we go through! 💪 Thank you REclaim Physiotherapy, I feel taller ;)

September: Back to Routine!
• We kicked off September with the skilled Matthew McKinnell who started working four days/week. After a two-year adventure in the Netherlands, Matt thought rebuilding his clientele would take time, but he surprised us all by treating a little over 100 clients in his first month! 🎉 His expertise in dry needling has become a game changer for many of our clients dealing with chronic pain. If you're looking for relief —book your session today!

October: Fast and Furious!
• Next, we welcomed Jillian Boothby to our crew! 🌟 Although she is a new Physiotherapist, she is dedicated to helping clients get back to their sport and living pain-free. Jillian works during the day at Queensway Carleton Hospital and is available for evening appointments at RECLAIM. Check out her profile and snag a spot in her schedule!

• We also got some fabulous new professional photos, thanks to the talented Amy Zambonin. She is quick and efficient! In just 18 months, our team has grown from 2 to 7 physiotherapists! It was time to upgrade our website 📸!

• I recently completed The Running Clinic 2.0 Expert Course in Quebec City. 🏃‍♀️ Although it was tough being away during a busy month, I came back with a wealth of knowledge to help our running clients. More on that soon!

• Our Physio Club – Fall Colors Edition was a hit with 9 physios showing up for a fun Pilates session led by Julie Crowson. We laughed our way through the class and left with sore abs—a sign of a great workout! We’re hoping to bring Julie back in the new year, so stay tuned!

• Lastly, we had a blast at our 2nd Annual Reverse Trick-or-Treat Networking Day. 🎃 Dressed as Scrabble pieces, we delivered some spooky and delicious treats while spelling out a surprise. We walked in this order: A-S-S-Q-T-U. Can you guess what we spelled?

NEW TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT!

RECLAIM PHYSIOTHERAPY is growing fast! We are thrilled to welcome Jillian Boothby to the team.

Jill graduated from the University of Limerick in Ireland in 2022 with a Master of Science in Physiotherapy with First Class Honours.

Before pursuing her Master's degree, Jill worked for 3 years at a multi-disciplinary clinic alongside physiotherapists, RMTs, sports medicine doctors, physiatrists and orthopedic specialists. She is very passionate about keeping people of all ages as strong and active as possible and engaged in the activities they love.

Jill is a keen young therapist and upon graduation found mentorship opportunities with experienced physiotherapists. I was one of her mentors and as we spent several hours together working with clients, it became apparent that she was in the right profession. She has also completed many post-graduate courses in dry needling and the McKenzie series for lower extremity and back pain.

She also works part-time at the Queensway Carleton Hospital which brings invaluable knowledge when treating clients in pre and post-operative care.

In her spare time, Jill plays volleyball and works out regularly doing strength circuit training at the gym.

Jillian's schedule is open for booking starting on Tuesday, October 15th! She will work Mondays, Tuesdays and as schedules permit, Wednesday afternoon-evenings from 2-8 pm.

If you live and or work in or , come check us out! Online booking is the best way to get in our schedules.

July-August recap:

Well, summer is done and as much as I don't like saying goodbye to the warm weather, I always welcome the routine that September brings.

A recap of July and August on the business front is a bit difficult since I was on holidays for half of it! I spent a lot of time on my bike pushing beyond my comfort zone and tackling 100km bike rides. As my husband Robert Shaw said goodbye to his 40's, we celebrated with a bike trip across Italy. We embarked on an epic journey with Trek Travel and biked coast to coast! No amount of training in Tremblant or the Gats could have prepared me for the gruelling Italian terrain. You just can't replicate 10kms climbs and up to 20% elevation. In total, we biked 453 kms and climbed 7,102 meters. The scenery was unforgettable and the food, wine and coffee was incredible!

Some of the lessons I learned while biking in Italy:

1. I am stronger than I ever imagined, both physically and mentally;

2. It's good to slow down, take time off and enjoy the climbs, especially after an Italian cappuccino and corneto.

3. "Teamwork makes dream work": a collaborative group of people coming together can achieve more than one individual alone. This applies to the training we did, the trip across Italy and the REclaim Physiotherapy team. Just 1 year in, we are a team of 6, soon to be 7 (another new physio hire to be announced soon)! This incredible team is thriving because of the therapists who support each other and make our clinic the best it can be. As a new entrepreneur, it was difficult to leave my team behind for the first time. When I peaked at the e-mails and incoming calls, I could see them working together to tackle it all.

What's new REclaim Physiotherapy?

1. Tracy Montgomery: She has moved her practice back to Westboro, closer to home and where the majority of her clients live. We got to work together for a little over 1 year and appreciated her time with us! If you need shockwave or ART from Tracy, you can find her at her old location in Westboro.

2. Matthew McKinnell: In July, Matt moved back to Stittsville from the Netherlands. Now that all 3 kiddos are back to school, he is taking clients 4 days/week. He is off to a roaring start with 12 new assessments last week. Welcome back to Canada and to the REclaim team Matt!

3. Physio Club Fall Colors edition: Thursday October 14th at 7:15pm. Julie Crowson, physio and certified pilates instructor will be guiding us through a 30 min session. Please reach out if you want to be added to the email list!

4. According to google, our profile views, website visits and searches are all up in August, we are seeing steady growth and our phone calls have jumped up 36%!

April recap:

Well, we did it! We surpassed our busiest month yet – helping well over 650 clients in April. A 12% increase from last month. That’s a lot of happy clients and High-Chews consumed! Our clients love the treats at the front of the clinic.

Running Resiliency Program:
Our 4 week Running Resiliency program is underway with 2 groups. They work hard every week to learn the principles of injury resiliency and then tackle the exercises as a group. Some of the running drills are difficult but they are applying new skills every week while having fun together. Joanna Marriott and I have spent many hours developing this program and although it’s our first attempt, it certainly won’t be our last.

New team member:
Incredibly thrilled to announce our new team addition starting in September 2024: Matthew McKinnell

Matt is a Physiotherapist who graduated from McGill University in 2003.
He has extensive training and certifications in manual therapy, acupuncture, and Gunn IMS (intramuscular stimulation/trigger point dry needling).

Matt is an avid sports enthusiast! He plays several sports including hockey, baseball, football and golf. He has also completed triathlons and half marathons. He treats many types of orthopedic and sports injuries including concussion and post-op rehab.

He has worked in New Brunswick, Vancouver, and Ottawa. Matt has spent the last 2 years in the Netherlands with his family as his wife accepted a teaching position with the Canadian Armed Forces at AF North International School. This time abroad has allowed them to slow down and share their love of travel and adventure with their three kids. They are moving back home to the west end of Ottawa very soon. We are all envious and curious to hear more about his experience abroad. He will be working 4 days/week starting in September.

With the addition of Matt, our total years of clinical experience will be 132! With experience comes wisdom and with this many years of hands-on work, as a team, we can safely say we’ve seen it all!

Welcome Matthew McKinnell!!

January recap:

REclaim Physiotherapy saw over 600 clients in January. This is a very high number for the slowest month of the year! Always grateful to see clients walk through our doors.

The year started with a stressful first week! Our heating system wasn't up for the cold which left us freezing in the clinic for a couple of days. Thankfully, our whole staff pitched in and brought space heaters and our property manager from Colonnade, came to the rescue and fixed the problem quickly!

Cancellations due to the flu and snow days are inevitable in our profession. As a clinic, we had 176 cancellations in January. However, for the very first time in my 25 year career, my late cancellations got filled on most days because of the Jane App waitlist option. When you book with your therapist, please add yourself to the cancellation list! You can be specific with days/times that work best for you and then the wonderful Jane will notify everyone who has chosen that time. Just like that, the fastest one to click YES gets the appointment!

Question of the month: What was your favourite vacation? This a common conversation topic with clients as I am genuinely curious to learn about their favourite places on earth. What is yours?

Goals of 2024:
1. Personal: Achieving sleep excellence - I have a Garmin vivoactive 5 and I'm enjoying the metrics for sleep, resting HR and HRV. I finally got a 100 on my sleep score last night! Yes, I'm competitive but somehow, this simple tool has helped me prioritize sleep. If you struggle with sleep, this impacts everything. I've always been great with falling asleep but I never got enough hours of sleep until I started wearing this watch. Thanks Robert for the Christmas gift!

2. Professional: hire 1-2 more therapists in 2024 and create a RESILIENCE for RUNNING workshop with Joanna Marriott. We will launch this in April 2024.

3. Family: Fun family trip and date nights. It's easy to let time slip by and forget to have fun as a family. To kick things off we are planning a surprise trip with our kids in May. This has been extremely fun to plan and they are excited to hear where we will be going.
