I’m absolutely in love with the card sets I got from ! They have made prepping for sessions easy and my client really enjoys working with them. We pair it up with games they like and it gets a lot of practice in!

At the start of July I flew out to Edmonton to see my idol, the INCREDIBLE Linda D’Onofrio () for 3 days all about myofunctional therapy. I learned a lot and am already changing how I approach some of what I do. I absolutely love learning and am so grateful that it is such a big part of my job!

I LOVE this Melissa and Doug set. I have so many kids who love cars and these houses make it so fun to learn and sort different concepts. I’ve used it for obvious goals like pronouns (his house, she wants to go to the hospital) and prepositions (it’s on the school, in the fire station), but also for concepts like sorting comments vs questions, categorizing foods and animals, and in this case, seasons!

We got SOO many trials of ‘ouch’ using this book and minis! We also worked on lip retraction with ‘eat’ when the goat comes at the end. What are your favourite books for targeting ‘ouch’?

If you are a parent, a clinician, a human…I recommend this book. It was recommended to me by another speech therapist and it really changed my perspective and understanding of how I can do better to build relationships and support the other beautiful humans around me. My absolute favourite activity for November, when it’s too late for Halloween but too early for Christmas. I’ve been using these beautiful apples from Learning Resources (much better than the paper activity I had!) and it has been so easy to target any and all goals with my different clients.

You can target pronouns, adjectives, requesting, prepositions, different tenses, possessive nouns, etc etc etc. the possibilities are apples!! Er I mean endless :) 🍎🍏

Holidays are coming up and you want to buy your child a book. I recommend wordless books and 'seek and find' style books because they allow us to talk about what is going on rather than worry about the words that are written on the page.

As Christmas and New Year roll around everyone starts to stock up on presents. If you want to promote language development, buy toys that...

1) evoke imagination and can be used to play in different ways
2) allow for turn-taking
3) have many pieces so that you can encourage requesting
4) have components that your child will need your help with
5) have batteries that can be removed - let's not let the toys do the talking for us!
