We couldn't have asked for a better father's Day weekend! On Saturday we hosted our Annual Car Show in our parking lot! Accompanied by Bluesy Swing Duo as our entertainment, a free BBQ executed by our talented kitchen department, and a 50/50 draw for the Children's Make A Wish Foundation! Thank you to everyone who participated in this incredibly successful day, including our incredible staff, volunteers, and all the car owners!

Happy Nurse Appreciation Week! We treated our hard working men and women to treats and gifts all week! From notepads and popcorn to pizza and wonderfully crafted drinks and donuts! Thank you so much for everything you all do for all of our residents!!

We were off to the races this morning with our residents on the second floor! We decided to do horse races to see which one was the fastest! Lots of cheering and laughter with this entertaining activity!

Our residents had the luxury of having a grand tour of our kitchen first hand to experience the day to day operations that provide them with 3 exceptional meals a day! Thanks to our incredibly successful Food Service Manager Julie, and our Executive Chef Paul, their team dishes out over 3,500 plates of delicous food every single week with grace and consistency! Thank you to this cohesive team for providing healthy and nutritious meals for everyone!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day, we were in a sea of green with our celebrations, accompanied by a fiddle player and a few pints of Guinness!

This is Jean Barton. She will be 101 in April! She has taken up painting only in the past year, and she joins the Paint Class with our volunteers Leslie and Zbig every Tuesday afternoon. This is her latest creation, the which is titled "Vincent's Daisy" in memory of her late husband, as daisies were his favorite flower. Jean is a perfect example that you truly are never too old to have fun, or learn something new! Way to go Jean!

Happy Valentine's Day! In the spirit of love, we decided to make our own flower arrangements with our donated china cups. We had a wonderful time and used these masterpieces for our centerpieces for our Valentine's Day happy hour celebration!

We had the pleasure of hosting a Welcoming Tea for all of our new residents! With the help of our devoted volunteers this event went off wonderfully. The purpose of our Welcoming Tea is to invite all who have moved in, in the last few months, to mingle and get to know all other residents. To take it up a notch, we use all our donated fine china and the kitchen provided us with some homemade pastries, fruits, and snacks!

What an incredible afternoon we had! We hosted a Wine Tasting Social accompanied by The Wine Shop from Your Independent Grocer. These wonderful ladies offered a variety of wines for our residents to test, and even brought some bottles to purchase in the comfort of their home! Our talented kitchen paired these wines with a variety of cheeses, meats and fruits!

Hazeldean Gardens

Hazeldean Gardens isn’t part of a large chain. It’s a locally-owned family business developed and operated by Wit Lewandowski, his wife Terry, his cousin Vicki Jackson and her husband Murray, and the Jackson’s son Allan.

We’re a full-service residence, located in Stittsville Ontario (a suburb of Ottawa), offering a continuum of care including Independent Living and a broad range of assisted care tailored to individual needs. This means that our residents can “age in place” by accessing higher levels of care as their needs change.

Registered nursing staff are on site at all times, providing residents and their families, reassurance that assistance will be available whenever it may be needed. All Independent Living suites are equipped with kitchenettes, so that residents have the option of preparing snacks or some of their own meals. Some units have special features such as walk-in closets, balconies, and ground floor units with walk-out private patios, which are perfectly suited to pet lovers.

With two full-time recreation coordinators and a facility built for socializing and fun, our focus is on providing residents with a full calendar of activities to keep them happy, healthy and active. Our hands-on care team, excellent chefs and compassionate staff strive to create an environment where our residents will flourish – allowing them to savour each day.
