As we also recognize the International Year of the Woman Farmer, it's the perfect moment to spotlight the leadership, resilience, and community-building women bring to agriculture every day. Women have always played a vital role in farming: growing food, nurturing soil, and strengthening the communities around them.

We're proud to share a new blog from Pfenning's Organic Farm, highlighting the powerful stories and lessons from the women behind the farm.

Il est temps que le Canada investisse dans l'alimentation et l'agriculture biologiques.

Notre nouveau Plan d'action biologique invite les gouvernements canadiens à adopter un cadre stratégique et une politique nationale en matière d'agriculture biologique afin de garantir la place du Canada sur le marché biologique mondial en pleine croissance et de contribuer à la construction d'une économie canadienne forte.

Le Plan préconise d'investir dans des mesures prioritaires qui généreront des retombées immédiates, tels que les systèmes de données biologiques, les services conseils et le développement des marchés, afin de stimuler les progrès initiaux et d'accroître la résilience du secteur face aux chocs économiques, commerciaux et climatiques.

La production et l'alimentation biologiques devraient être intégrés dans les stratégies nationales en matière d'alimentation, de commerce et de climat, en tant que système de production structuré et vérifiable fournissant des produits en forte demande auprès des consommateurs canadiens et sur les marchés internationaux grâce à des ententes d'équivalence biologique avec 35 pays.

Grâce à des investissements stratégiques publics-privés, le secteur biologique peut générer des revenus agricoles plus élevés, renforcer les économies rurales, développer la transformation des produits biologiques, créer de nouvelles possibilités d'exportation et répondre à la demande des Canadiens pour les produits biologiques d'ici.

It's time for Canada to invest in organic food and farming.

Our newly published Organic Action Plan calls on Canadian governments to adopt a national organic policy framework and strategy to secure Canada's place in the growing global organic market and deliver on building one strong Canadian economy.

The plan calls for investment in priority areas with clear returns such as organic data systems, advisory services and market development to drive early progress and increase sector resilience to economic, trade, and climate-related shocks.

Organic production and food should be integrated into national food, trade and climate strategies as a proven, verifiable production system providing in-demand products to Canadian consumers and international markets through organic equivalency arrangements with 35 countries.

With strategic public-private investment, organic can deliver stronger farm incomes, strengthen rural economies, grow organic manufacturing, generate new export opportunities and deliver on Canadians' demand for Canadian organic products.
